It was a highlight but so, too, was the sketch in 'Only Fools and Horses' when Del-boy falls through the bar. Len

Does anyone remember the Julie Walters sketch where she plays a doddery old waitress .....a la Mrs. Overall .......she comes out to Celia Imrie and the one who plays the plumber in the Dinnerladies.........she takes the order......soup.......writes it down........one soup, and another soup.......goes away.....slowly and comes back thumbs in the soup, spilling it all over......and so on........how Celia Imrie & the fella keep straight faces, I don't know.........

Bryan, I do so agree, it is one of my all time favourites. Also there was another of those silent films Ronnie Barker did about a posh family who had rather a lot to drink with dinner and breakfast the next morning was so funny. They ate cereal which sounded like the 1812 overture because of their hangovers!! It always make me laugh just to think about it. Ronnie Barker is sadly missed. Sue

Can anyone remember the programme The Two Ronnies did 'Beside the Seaside'? It had no dialogue at all, but it was so funny. The first time I watched I laughed so much. Those two are comic genuises.

While I agree about the Four Candles sketch, (and the Parrot one) I loved the Victoria Wood 'Acorn Antiques' sketches she used to do! Does this count as there was more than one? Allie x

similarly sally, whenever i hear anyone break wind, i giggle, as it always reminds me of inspector Clouseau, and several others, standing in a lift, and someone breaks wind rather loudly. apparently, they laughed so much filming it, that it took about fifteen takes to get it right, bryan.

Sally Moonchild

Sally Moonchild Report 13 Aug 2006 18:32

I don't think that kind of comedy can ever be topped Bryan, all you have to do is say 'four candles' and you are immediately transported back to a small DIY/hardware shop, that could have been seen in any part of Britain at the time. The same with the Parrot sketch, how they did that without corpsing I do not know.

It's too simple for me. Word play is ok, but I need more to tickle me. I was brought up on Spitting Image. Can't remember it now but apparently I loved it :-)
