Hi Liz, I just phoned the doctor this morning and asked if I can see another GP, I was asked why? told them I wanted a second opinion. The receptionist put me on to another docrtor, I was told the thyroide blood tests are sent to the hospital for testing. Its the hospital who decide if you thyroide is underactive enough to increase the level of Thyroxine you are taking, in my case no, it does not have to be increased and any other doctor would just say the samething. Betty

Betty - in England now no-one is under just one doctor and can see who they want in a practice, (or who is available) is that not the case in your neck of the woods? Might be worth a try. Liz

Hi still here, got distracted but must go to bed soon. Betty why not see a different doctor - I am sure things have altered over 40 years, maybe your doc is not keeping up to date. Really going now, honest, night both of you.

Well you know the way doctors are, they never listen to you, they know best (well so they think). I have had this for 20 years and the doctor admit treatment has not changed in 40 years for thyroide problems. Betty

♥Betty Boo from Dundee♥ Report 16 Aug 2006 03:51

I have to go back to my GP every 3 months for blood test to check my thyroide, they say its ok now, but i know in 3 months when I go back it will be too low, always the same. They then have to increase the dose again. The problem is i spend 6 months where I put on loads of weight. Betty
