Thanks Rebekah and Marlene, I'll tell them about rain gear :) I am interested in the canals because an ancestor's family built some of them - Brindley- and I actually saw a pub or resturant with a Brindley sign in a movie once!!! Vonny |

Like any city it has its good and bad parts. I think the Google option is a good idea. Nightlife is in Broad Street, and if they fancy it there's the 'Walkabout' bar for homesick Aussies... Bournville is OK - it depends whereabouts. I'd recommend the Cadbury Museum, they give out free chocolate!! |

There are lots of places to visit, hubby and I took inlaws the other day( I did put a thread up about it, if you type Brum in the search box for threads you'll see it) There is the Millenium point which holds the Think Tank which is an interesting place to visit. Also the Sealife centre in Brindleyplace which is near the canal and the Mailbox. If they want to venture a little bit further afield they could try my local historical phenominum the Ironbridge Gorge and it's various museums, (There are 10 in all and it charts the start of the Industrial Reveloution) and of course there is the very famous Ironbridge, built by Abraham Darby and was the very first bridge to be built in iron. I hope they have a lovely time while they are over here and that the weather holds up. Helen |
