No I didn't Christine - but thanx anyway. I actually enjoy home baking - there is nothing better. My hubby actually prefers it too and so do the kids. Will save me pounds in cakes, etc. If I can keep this up. I seem to go in Spurts. The only thing that I never seem to be able to get right - no matter how I try is SCONES of all things. And so simple to make too. Whatever I do they never seem to rise even when I follow the recipe to the LETTER. |

I wish I had somebody to make mine for me. It was my ex - M.I.L that taught me to bake - she gave me a lovely recipe for Ginger Sponge that you make in a pan with treacle as well - my NEW hubby threw it in the bin at Christmas accidently. He was well cheesed off because he actually loved it. NO MORE GINGER SPONGE - unless somebody else has the recipe. |

Just about everything cakes, bread, biscuits etc. Don't do as much as I used to when my children were younger, but then I cook as a profession so I keep my hand in that way. Lindax |

Tracy was it this one;;; SUMMER GINGER CAKE 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup molasses 1/2 cup shortening (butter/Crisco) 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon rum 1 teaspoon nutmeg 2 teaspoons ground ginger 1 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 cup boiling water Preheat oven to 350°F. Use any combination of butter and Crisco to equal 1/2 cup in total. In a large mixing bowl, cream together shortening and sugar. Beat egg until foamy and add to mixture. Beat in spices. Mix together baking soda and flour, then stir in. Add molasses and rum. Just before you are ready to bake the cake, stir in boiling water. Pour into a pan lined with buttered wax or parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm, with vanilla or rum custard sauce, or allow to cool slightly and drizzle with confectioners icing before serving. Variation: Double the amount of ginger in recipe. Prepare cake in a loaf pan and split into two layers by slicing lengthwise horizontally. Make a filling by mixing 1 package cream cheese, at room temperature, with 1/2 cup apple pie filling. Spread between layers. Drizzle with vanilla icing or serve topped with Cool Whip or French Vanilla Ice Cream. Babs |

No Babs - I hate Microwaves. Worst thing ever invented if you ask me - but that is only my opinion. It wouldn't do for us all to be alike. I will probably be shot down in flames for that comment - but hey ho |

Fairy cakes Can't get enough of them. My 2 yr old likes 'helping'. It's great stuff flour everywhere. He just puts the eggs in whole. Then I rescue them and crack them. He has a little Bob the builder pinny and looks ever so cute. I wish I could bake more things. Do a few biscuits and rockbuns. Nothing too taxing. No patience M |
