Hi Dee Just come back on site. Like you find it hard to believe Les Paul was placed at no. 46!! He's a legend and inspired many would be guitarists. The list is three years old though!! Mau |

Just looked at that site Paul mentioned amazing they have Hendrix at No 1 and I don't believe that Les Paul should be right down at 46, surely he was a legend in his time? ;-))) |

Dont agree with Hendrix sorry, he was a stunt guitarist, my opinion. Carlos Santana, Formed group Santana, 60s, Born in Mexico, music = Latin American Rock Blues, came to fame at Woodstock and played Soul Sacrifice, Albums = Abravax, Caravanserae etc etc, best single = Samba pati [ now playing on tv advert ]. A few more guitarist jan ackerman, BB King, Chris Rea. and Alvin Lee out of Ten Years After. |

Just found this... Rolling Stone magazines 100 greatest guitarists of all time http://www.rollingstone(.)com/news/story/5937559/the_100_greatest_guitarists_of_all_time/ Note that it was compiled 3 years ago and, as always, these things are subjective, we'd never all agree ! |

Fred, I had been thinking of drummers as well, Keith Moon has to have been the all time best, he was so talented, pity he, like a lot of other very talented musicians, died so young Dee ;-)))) |

Hi Anne Backing musicians never seem to get the recognition they deserve do they?? Which is a great pity really, as without them some singers would be quite lost (not that Billy Idol could ever come into that category) ;-))) |

Gwynne I agree about Jimi Hendrix, he was legendry Lee Some names that I haven't come across there You ask where I get my inspiration from.. If it isn't a book that I have read, I usually find that I am chatting to someone about something and start wondering what other peoples opinions would be on the subject I have a pen and pad in the car, and am forever jotting down notes about things. Some because I want to do more research on them and find out more about them. Now I need to go find out more about Carlos Santana, I may have heard his music but the name rings no bells Dee ;-))) |
