Yes, and more more frequently than I should have. Started when I was about 14 (in what used to be called the 4th year, no idea what they call it now lol). I'd been a good scholar up till then, but was distracted by peer pressure, and lost interest just when I should have been gearing up for exams - which showed in my somewhat disappointing grades - they were acceptible, but lower than I would have expected. The general unhappiness at being at school continued when I was in the 6th form and I ended up leaving before I took my A levels. See, its not always your parents that f*ck you up - I was quite capable of doing it myself. |

No Dee, another goody here (or a scaredy cat) never truanted, much as I would have liked to at grammar school. I did, however scive off games on several occasions by hiding down the bottom of the huge sports field behind a large oak tree, there were a group of us who regularly did this. Ann Glos |

Not completely, but during cross country runs my friend and i used to stay at the back and when we got just round the corner from our school we used to lay on the grass beside the school fi eld and wait till all the kids on the run came back into the school gates then we would hop over the fence and join them.Never did get caught. lol Shirley Ann. |

Oh yes! Often! (And I still have my 1965 diary detailing all the times I did). Never got caught....I think the teachers used to turn a blind eye and welcomed the peace actually! Anyone else from Haverstock School out there? Dee x |

Yup, got caught, got the cane, got clever, didn't get caught. So I suppose the message is the cane doesn't work! But now the teachers can't even try, and things are worse. |

I did once and regretted it.I wasn't clever enough to forge a note from my Mum and got caught ( it was a bit obvious with four friends off in the same class!). We bunked off because we hadn't done our Biology homework and we were scared of the repercussions for not doing our homework. Anyway we got six hours detention. I hour per night for six days. Never did it again!! Carol x |

Well it surprises me, all these upstanding members of GR who admit to bunking school!! I must admit that I agree with those of you who say you learnt more after you left school, I think we can all agree there ;-))) |
