Hi Janice I used to do a lot of look-ups and spent many a happy hour in the records department of the Portsmouth library but not any more. I had a few nasty encounters on the general board and decided to stop posting for a while. I have been looking in and reading the boards though. Glad I have been some help to you in the past, I love to help and have been helped by others so what goes around comes around. That is what this site is all about. Linda

Hi Linda Long time no speak, good to have you back. You were a great help to me when I first started researching about 5 years ago, without your help & that of others on this site early on I think I would have given up. This is what this site should be about helping others whenever you can. I remember the earlier problems too, we lost some good people then as well. It mustn't happen again. Janice

Alan...I agree with you that there should be moderators on this site...particularly this board. But please do renew, it is only the minority who are spoiling it for the rest of us and, this site, when you really think about it, has been a terrific help in our genealogical research. Even the general board is helpful to let off steam occasionally and to just have a chat. The state of play at the moment is not the norm...this is out of control, but hopefully is being overcome. Well I don't know about 'WUMS' I only post occasionally and usually only look in on the tips and records boards...whoever, or whatever they are, I want no part of it...I am sure most of you will agree, this site should get back to it's original purpose...research and a little chit chat inbetween....lets ignore the nastiness and maybe the nasties will give up and go away. I have been a member continously since the 5/11/2002 member no: 213 and it has changed so much since then, I have managed to stay away from any hassle but it's worrying when you don't know wether your friend today could be your enemy tomorrow, isn't there enough sadness and bad in the world, maybe some of these people should read some of the more serious threads on here where people have real worries and sadness in there lives.I remember as I'm sure lots of you do how we all got together in one way or another to help Gaynor and the support was tremendous for her and her family it's just gone from bad to worse.Love to all Denise.x

Well all I can say is that the people that have left are as disgusted by what has been posted as you are. It doesn't come from them I can assure you.

I too am disgusted by the behaviour I have witnessed on this site tonite. The success board specifically. One wonders who the so called WUMS are as it stands at present.

But why is this happening??? If we see a contentious thread we shouldn't bite but ignore it, then maybe things will return to normal...and I mean, like when the site first started and it was for genealogical purposes with a little respite and relaxation from research. Come on folks...we are grown ups and are happily searching for rellies (albeit dead ones lol) so lets have fun but lets not overdo it and start bickering amongst ourselves....that's just plain silly! Isn't that why we all should be here? This board used to be for a bit of light relief inbetween doing your tree. Unfortunately there are those that abuse it and aren't even interested in genealogy!

I agree, it doesn't seem as if GR are at all concerned about how their members feel.

I am disgusted with the behaviour of some of the people on the boards...Some of the people on here are beyond contempt..I wonder what the world is comming to when people can be so openly nasty and get away with it.... I dont think it's the boards gone mad...just some of the peole! How on earth they can go from such spitefulness to butter wouldnt melt is beyond me! I am gutted that innocent members have been barred from this site, leaving nasty waste of spaces the freedom to continue to upset and insult.... I dont have to name names, they know who they are...sadly they dont have enough about them to feel ashamed at their behaviour... LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx

Nice to see you're sane Sally! lol But I am bovvered! Like Linda, I've been here quite a long time and it used to be so nice on here. But to see GR treat their members with the contempt they have shown over the last couple of days is sickening

Jeanette...I joined 11th December 2002 but like I said, I let my membership lapse, still watched the boards though. Then I 'rejoined' (cos my membership had lapsed) because I wanted to post. Wondering now why I bothered...this is still a good site for genealogy though. Linda
