My understanding of a public grave is different to a paupers grave, hence : Paupers-one person may be more of the same family buried in there no name cos couldn't afford the stone with name, usually stone was self made. Public-similar thing, but if in the area if similar children died, they had the option to go in a public grave.All the families knwe about it. catherine xx that's my understanding, maybe I'm wrong. |

His Grandfather possibly could have been fighting in France at the same time as my Great Uncle and could have been in the same battle. As they were both in the Derbyshire and Sherwood Foresters. Sue |

What a brilliant programme tonight, I said that when Robert Lindsays name came up as one of the stars, I thought it would be a good one and it certainly was. Although he only went back as far as his Grandparents, what he discovered was very interesting and thought provoking. I was glad to see that he was going to carry on searching for his ancestors, maybe he will join the site. ( Don't all go at once and do a search for him hahaha) Helen |

I really enjoyed this episode,it brought back so many memories of Ilkeston,my home town.I remember playing on the street where Robert Lyndsey lived as a child.The best bit was the AY UP MI DUCK ,can remember it well .Brilliant programme! |

Brenda, It was the Sherwood Foresters Museum in Nottingham as mu ears pricked up when he said Sherwood Foresters. Another trip for me as my great uncle served with them in the 1st worls war. Sue |

When I think about my gran who saw her 7 son's go to war in ww2, 2 of them she never saw for 6 years, one she never heard of and wrote to the Pm, they all came home.. my other grandad fought in both wars, and again his 6 sons went to war, my gran took in washing just to make ends meet, makes your think... |
