shes 12 now and have been having water infections since she was 3 our doctor said it now needs investigating so off we went to the local hospital where it was decided to do an ultra sound on her kidneys her right kidney has a small amount of fluid in the center and her left kidney is in 2 parts which is called a duplex anyone else heared of this we have to wait to see the doctor to see what he says

Hi Lynne My mum had a duplex kidney condition, apart from being prone to water infections she was fine. Just make sure she drinks plenty of water. Good luck to your daughter Take care Jackie

My friends daughter had this. She actually had that kidney removed at GOS a month or so ago and has made a fantastic recovery! She's only 2. I don't know if it's usual to remove them, but one part of the kidney was covered with loads of cysts, so that may have had something to do with it. AL

thank you all for your replies this week has been one of those weeks first i think my mum is going a bit senile since losing my dad she asked me to do something for her on monday and swore she didnt on tuesday really upset me my eldest son who has special needs has been very noisy this week my middle son told me his girlfreind is pregnant again 3rd one in 4 years and now this with my daughter and i think ive started the menopause i feel a bit better now i ve written it all down i dont usually moan sorry

they called mine duplex ureter,on both sides.i too at 15 kept getting water infections,then kidney infections,but i see a specialist,and have too go every 6 months,which is good as i used to go every 2 wks.they can do so much now.big hugs to your daughter,xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

joy can i ask you if you ever had blood on the toilet tissue after having a wee i keep thinking perhaps she is starting her periods but hasent yet

yes hun,often when i got infection in my kidney it would do that.also,try home made lemon barley water,its always worked for me ,i can usually tell if somethings not right by me wee.if its really cloudy for a few days i know somethings going on xxxxxxxxxxxxxhugs joy

joy so you havent had to have it removed thats whats worrying me my daughter is taking it all in her stride but its embarrasing for her to keep asking for the key at school for the toilets

hi lynne,yes ive had 3 ops,for me its like 2 kidneys stuck on top of each other ,with 2 tubes coming from it,and the same the other side.i had a stone in the right one and it went manky.but they sorted me out and im fine.if you need to talk anytime ,im here hun.ANYTIME.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxjoy

i watched the scan being done yesterday the doctor said it was like an elastic band around the middle making two halves

does she have 2 tubes from one kidney?????xxxxxxxxx

we are not sure yet the doctor is going to study the scan and then we will be told, am i right in saying she should have, you know whats its like trying to take everything in i wish you could tape record everything they say

i know hun,let me try and decribe. a normal kidney is one on each side with a tube on each. i have what looks like two,one on top of the other and a tube going to each.so i look like i got 4 kidneys.and 4 tubes.wish i could draw it.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
