When I got up this morning, the sun was shining and I was amazed to see the state of my windows, they were covered in grit the colour of sand. I wonder what has been raining down during the night. I am now off to give them a clean, the window cleaner is not due for a couple of weeks, so little ol me will have to do it, I hate cleaning windows. Anyone out there fancy a swop, you clean my windows and i'll mow your lawn perhaps!!! Sue

hi i am in surrey and though exactly the same thing- i only did them last week! they are filthy.

Hi Sue If I clean my windows it always rains after - know were you are coming from . the rain here seems to come with sand in it too. Thank goodness my windows are small Mary in Spain

Thats strange Sue i am quite a few miles from you and my windows are the same. I cleaned mine a couple of days ago and they are terrible. I hate cleaning windows. Val (from the other side to Sue ) lol

Hi Sue. Well you won't want me cleaning your windows.. I did mine this morning as they were terrible after all the rain yesterday... Then went out and have just made some lunch st down in the living room.. the sun is shinning and the windows well they are worse now than this morning, streaks all over.. diff not a window cleaner am I... so going out there with fairy liquid and scrub them and them try the window cleaner.... what a nice way to spend my Saturday... That sandy deposit gets all over, our car was covered the other morning. Wash your windows with vinegar in the water - it will help clear the grease and don't rub them or you will scratch the glass with the grit and sand, just wash it down and off, a gentle hosing helps but don't use a forceful jet or you will muck up the double glazing seal as I did once, trying to get a big dollop of bird doodah off the glass. Rub glass dry with scrunched up newspaper, then go over the outsides all one direction with a soft cloth (old bridget jones bloomers are good, or underpants!). When you clean inside, finish off in the other direction to outside and then you can see which side the streaks are on. Have fun!!!!

I can beat your dirty windows. The window cleaners came round on Thusday. All they do is run a hose, with a brush on over the windows. Once the sun came out they looked worse than when they had started. I have complained.

Seriously ladies. Have you thought about trying the things that proffessional window cleaners use. I got fed up with all that polishing years ago. Ever since I put water with a tiny drop of washing up in a liquid in a bucket. Wash the windows with a foam cloth. Then I use one of those metal handles with a rubber thing attached. They look fine and seem to stay clean longer. Chrissie x

Vinegar and newspaper usually do a good job of cleaning windows
