Thank the lord for a common name!! Gave up at page ten on google and not a bit actually about me! ......mind you I hope I'm never mistaken for some the 'ladies' that came up *blushes furiously*. Helen.

I am afraid that it is likely that ANY forum that that you have made a post or reply to,has your name on it!! be it a screen name or your actual one..it is possible that it can be googled.. my family name has just come up with 455 hits...(not all mine, either) Bob

OMG I am mortified, I have just googled my name and 18 pages came up my email addy where I live ;; That is disgusting surley its against the law, and the one thats was the most is teesonline which I havnt been on for god ages,and i realise why ;;because I have never logged out site;;; well that is it I am going to go toeverysite and log out;; i just dont need this today my friends son died overnight and time is important today but will get onto this as soon as I can;; Funny thing not 1 refrence to this site;; babs

Hi Thanks Alan for bringing this to our attention, although I googled myself and nothing came up it is still worrying that many other members details have, so I have changed my name too, if I have done it....... Lisa PS Phew guess it worked, yipee, gadgets and I don't mix.....

I googled my screen name I keep the same one on different sites to make life easier and came up with my postings on rootschat including my personal profile which shows the names I am researching and where I live and my postings on a channel 4 website. I didn't find Genes but you could find a lot of personal information. The genes success board postings seem to show up as well. Anne

I am sure that this has been aired before, re genes id numbers and giving out too much info.......,thats why I took MY surname off.............however I AM to be found on several other sites......... Bob

Hi All Well I have just googled myself - what a common name I have - got fed up after page 20 it just went on and on. Did not find the true me but I could have been dead, director of Costs del Sol Estate Agents . I wish - I am a book - a nun - thats a laugh . and so on - so I gave up . but perhaps will go back to Mary in Spain - can someone answer a question for me please - does that mean that when people contact me from GR my surname will not appear. Off to change name - see you in a mo Mary in Spain

yes but it does not just lead you to this site. I like many others are members of other sites and I just googled and found a journal for myself but when i went there I hadnt written anything in it. It was when I first started this hobby in 2003. I dont like my e-mail addy being quite so freely available on google.

You must also think that if accessability for peoples names and whereabouts on the net were NOT available to everyone that wants to find someone then this site and all other sites like this one would be useless. Think about why your on this site ?? What you do on this site ?? Answer----- Your searching for people So when you actually think about it it is usefull Everyone who is registered to use the internet IS easily traced if you know what your doing Paul

heck I just checked mine and seems like I am all over the place, even gives my old e-mail addy on the front page. No wonder there is so much junk mail going around. THere seems to be another gloryer that is into the dark side of life.

just done an internet search on google for my real full name and my board name looked through five pages for each name and NOT ONE was about me or directed to me on this site or any other site for that matter Paul

I have tried at least 6 names and I am shocked at how many references to members of this site can be found by googling. Alan thank you for the warning. Have you taken this up with GR yet as would be interested in any reply that you got from them. By the way my board name has nothing to do with sexy clothing LOL Maureen
