Glenys the Menace!

Glenys the Menace! Report 2 Oct 2006 21:05

Something occurred to me this afternoon about this. Firstly, I'm not being flippant about this situation, but judging by the school's behaviour I wonder what their reaction would be to an anonymous letter accusing (without foundation) the head of, say, having an extra-marital affair with someone. Yes, not a nice thought I know and purely hypothetical, but as I say, I wonder.

I think it is terrible that the school thought it appropriate to show you the letter particularly when it is totally unfounded. To give credence to an anonymous letter is beyond belief. When you go to the school it would be best if you could take someone with you - give you a little bit more confidence - less chance of feeling intimidated. Best of luck, Lorrainex

You poor girl, I do agree with the advise of others and dont go to the school governors meeting on your own, I am sure that whatever branch of the forces your OH is in they will have a welfare officer who can help and advise you. I would also be wondering since they appear to have had it for some months how many people have seen it or are aware of it and its contents as people do gossip. I know if it was me I would feel very inclined to go to the police and get them to look in to the matter. sending you lots of ((((((hugs)))))) Pam

I'm thoroughly disgusted to hear this. Three letters come to mind - CAB, CAB, CAB! I'm sure the local press would also be very interested, or indeed the media...... But knowing what your circumstances are Carol, I don't know if that's right for you at the moment. As others say though, you do need moral support, so please take someone along with you wherever you go regarding this matter. x

Caz, hard for you now with o.h. incommunicado too, but try and get some advice pdq and get someone 'official' - CAB member or as I said before, someone from the Forces Welfare section, to go with you and face this Head teacher. My apologies to teachers on this board, but not all teachers are decent honourable people. I have a neighbour who teaches first school pupils, and she was a friend for some time, yet listened to malicious troublemaking from another neighbour who fabricated something, to make me look bad, and the teaching neighbour started damaging my car, hitting the wing mirror so the fixing broke, etc and even when she went to Court, got away with it cos the Crown Prosecution chap got muddled up over my statement. She walks around brazen as you like and stares straight at me if we meet, I try to outstare her but it is so hard. Police knew it was her and are annoyed she got off, but they have warned her if anything else occurs regarding harassment to me or my home, she will be the first person they visit. What a dreadful person to be teaching young children. Chin up Caz. Liz

Caz I have only just seen this thread - the are some real bloody minded people about - sorry for swearing - but I get so mad - why do they do it. Some years ago I had loads of obscene phone calls and was a complete bag of nerves - my hubby thought I was stronger - anyway called the police in who traced the calls and thankfully they stopped. Please have someone go with you to the school. If you want to offload - which you must . do not brood over this on your own - use this board - pm me - anything. You take care babe Mary in Spain xx

Thanks again have just come in from college, I believe the school have had the letter since April and now i know why they got social services on to me, I was totally above board and said my daughter had sneaked out and was missing with her friend and we informed the police, I am having to think very carefully and get my head together as i feel in my gut something very odd is going in, I dont feel confident and I know they { head, etc } will bully me if I go alone and i'll bloody well get upset cos am under so much pressure, thanks my lovely mates, Cazxxxxxxxxxxxx

Caz, that is diabolical! Before you do anything else, I would make sure you have someone with you to attend any meetings, for support and as a witness against anything you or the governors say. The School has gone about this in all the wrong way, they should have asked you to go in and see them and say what has happened, showing you the letter. They would have been able to see from your reaction the truth right there and then. No way should they write as if they believed this evil person. Don't the Army or whatever service your o.h. is in, have some legal people or welfare people who can help you with this? I am sure they would support you. The last thing you need while Graeme is away, is this kind of hassle and running you down like this is awful, especially as it is untrue. Do hope you rub the school's staff's faces in the mud over this, it is a disgrace and I would be very concerned that the school dealt with something like this in this manner. Liz

Buggy21 Report 1 Oct 2006 23:43

Caz, Ask the school how the letter was delivered........ ie, posted by RM or given in at the desk, etc, etc......If handed in at the desk someone must have seen them.... Also ask them what date that it was handed in and how long have they sat on it before contacting you.....? People can be so spiteful sometimes. Hope you get it sorted as soon. Good Luck! Angie.

Oh Caz, what a horrid thing for someone to do. Big (((((hugs))))) to you. Have you spoken to the police? Might be an idea to firstly cover your own back and secondly, because someone obviously is causing trouble for you. You could probably check your threads on here, if necessary, to show you were online 'til a certain time that night, but who would expect you still to be here at 5.00 am!! Hope you get thing sorted out soon. Lots of love. AL

Len of the Chilterns

Len of the Chilterns Report 1 Oct 2006 23:03

A letter may be libellous but a spoken untruth is slanderous. If the sender can be identified, then he may be proceeded against. If the school has acted upon such a letter and disseminated the contents then they too may be guilty of libel or slander len

Caz,, Sorry to hear that this horrid so so has caused you this grief.. But don't know if your school policy is the same as the one I work at... they have to treat things like this serious, and report them, with out asking questions.. But if you have a meeting it might not be the case.. I hope you get it sorted very soon. Pat
