when my kids were born we called the 2 sets ... nanny dog and noisy grandad (they had a dog and he is very loud!) and nanny cat and wheely grandad (cat and wheelchair!) nowadays they are nanny (sometimes nanny-no-dog) and grandad, and my mum is still nanny cat even though her cat is gone. their great grandad is grandad wiggle cos his party piece is ear-wiggling! Just remembered that my brothers' kids call my dad Pops. I find that very strange as my children and grandchildren call him granddad. Don't know where that came from! Aileen xxx |

We're nanny and granddad tortoise and the other grandparents are nanny and granddad fish. Hysterical. You can have fish as a surname but tortoise. Causes a laugh when it gets yelled at you across a crowded shop! They call their great grandparents nanny and grandad followed by their surname. Aileen xxx |

When I was little I had two sets of grandaparents and two great grandmothers Paternal grandparents known as Nanny Jin and Grandad Greg. Maternal grandprtents known as Nan and Grandad Cowley. Paternal gr. grandmother - Nanny Dickinson. Maternal gr. grandmother Grandma Irons. I was widowed and remarried. My sons call my mum Nanny Greg and their Dads Mum Nanny Lil. My daughter (2nd husband's child) calls my mum the same, my sons mum the same but calls her dads parents Nain and Taid because she was brought up in Wales. Complicated lot aren't we !! Libby xx |

Because I have been a Nanny to other peoples children, I wanted to be called Granny. My Mother i(Letty) is Gran to my children & Granny Lettuce to my Grandchildren. ( My Eldest Grandson thought this was her name, & it just stuck!) |

Congratulations! We are called Mimi and Bigpop. On a recent visit to the UK (we are in the US) our soon-to be-3-year-old grandaughter insisted on saying 'Pigbop' which might just stick, as everyone (including Pigbop himself) thinks it's so cute to hear her little girl voice saying it. Not to be recommended for everyone though! :-) |
