Thanks everyone..... the family are devastated as you can imagine and there will be an inquest as an investigation of the hospital and their ligature policy will need to be carried out! Its a horrid process as the hospital will do all they can so not to be sued (I used to work in the department that carried out these investigations in the Berks NHS) What's scary is someone can hang themselves from a floor level radiator, so they will have to show how they did all they could to prevent any potential suicides! Its going to be a long drawn out process and the family really don't need this! xx

This happened to a young woman I'd known since she was a little girl, and it had happened before and has happened since at the same hospital - for all the investigations lessons don't seem to be learned. It is so very tragic - I feel for your relative's family. Yesterday was the 8th anniversary of the death of an old school friend who took his life in the same way but at his home. If only those people had managed to talk to someone about their feelings instead of doing such a desperate act.
