Just caught the tale end of a lunchtime news report about the amount of cocaine being consumed in the UK which far outstrips other European countries. The street value has fallen dramatically making it more easily accessible. So are they going to be getting the same treatment on the NHS too? Aileen xx

Roxanne Report 23 Nov 2006 13:42

Hi Aileen,50 pounds for one gram!! its probably not even worth 2 pounds. Sorry cant do pound signs on here, its Spanish!lol Roxanne x

Roxanne Report 23 Nov 2006 13:39

Heather,I would Imagine they would do it them selves, Its actually worth peanuts. It would also be a high quality form(if you can call it that). Did you know that the majority of heroin sold has other things in it, the pushers add alsorts of rubbish to get larger profits. thats usually what kills the majority of addicts, not the heroin.

Hi Roxanne, Says in the papers that the street value of heroin is £50 a gram. Now ministers are considering downgrading LSD and Ecstasy! Aileen xxx

What I would like to know is, who's going to supply the NHS? Or will they be making their own ? Heather x

Roxanne Report 23 Nov 2006 13:25

I should of added that they should also be made to go for councelling to get them off the drugs. drugs are a big criminal Industry, many people suffer because of drugs, not just the addicts. The reason for e.g Heroin has the street value it does is because its only obtainable through illegal means, take that away and its worth zilch.

I don't think they should get it free, but at a very reduced rate or on BOGOF. I hate drugs and the evil they cause to families and the addicts. Making heroin cheaper on the NHS than the street might reduce the crime level, remove some of the BIG men and pushers. Also maybe help remove some of the syringes etc from public places. By charging some amount it also relieves the feeling, of why should we pay for it, a bit. When you think of the big money the sellers make, even at a reduced cost it should cover the face value of the stuff. I would prefer the addicts to be cured but some never will be, I can't despise them as I still see them as other peoples babies who went wrong, and their but for the grace of God.

Hi, LLC No my dear, remember they pull that stunt when they get sent to prison. That's when their Human Rights are infringed and we the suckers have to pay out £3,500 to 198 of the poor souls. Sorry 197 (one died). The insane are definitely running the asylum in this country. Aileen xxx

PinkDiana Report 23 Nov 2006 12:22

But the more they have the more they need and therefore they will continue to steal to get a bigger better buzz!! It is not the answer!

some good points there Roxanne

Roxanne

Roxanne Report 23 Nov 2006 11:16

Yes,I think they should. At least it would cut crime and put the drug barons out of business it would also cut the sex industry down too,Plus petty theft would drop, addicts steal to feed their habit. They would get their drugs in a clean environment, with clean neeedles,so the risk of aids would drop too.

well said amanda. I totally disagree with this,it's not just the adiction of these drugs it's also the harm to the body it couses, multiple absesses, infections, dehydration, starvation, self neglect, hepititis as well as the biggest known killer hiv ....i can't believe that they would even sugest such a thing, and why should we as tax payers have to support such a thing that we'v so often tought our children from being so young, about the dangers of drugs. i'm not saying don't treat them, but put the money into rehabilitation programs as there are not enough of these programs available to overcome the increase of this real big problem. tc gwyn xx

PinkDiana Report 23 Nov 2006 09:16

The world has gone mad! These people should be given the help to become clean.... and not help to continue their habit.... like alcoholism its a disease but isn't the NHS about cure? They wouldn't give an alcoholic free booze for life would they?
