Caz Nr Heathrow Report 5 Dec 2006 13:20

I’ve cooked the Xmas dinner since, forever and mum and dad were always over for the day. I won’t bore you but most Christmas days were tense and terse comments were made….but always later regretted. Unfortunately both mum and dad are dead now, funny; I’d do anything for a terse comment with them now. Mind you dad gave us a REEAALL laugh one year. Drunk, he fell asleep. Then halfway though a film he wakes up and calls out…. “….and there’s another thing”, pointing at the window. We all turned round to see what he was pointing at, and back again....rofpmsl…..he’d only dozed straight back off, flies undone, belly too full from grub. A truly fond memory!!! To all those no longer here I raise a glass Caz

Thats lovely Gaynor. I will be thinking of you I know when I lost my dad that first Christmas we said let's not spoil it for the kids. Everything going fine till we all sat down for dinner. Then it hit us. I know your mum wouldn't want any tears so you all be happy and think of the nice times . Take Care Love Germaine x

Hi Gaynor, Thanks for this thread, and I too will make it an extra special day for my family. We will carry on the tradition that my darling mum always upheld. Set the table with the best that you have, dress up with the best clothes you have. Raise your glass to absent and lost loved ones, and be glad of your family around you. This will be my first Christmas without Mum,I was one of the lucky ones, she was 94,so she was around me for a long long time. I will think of all of you,who has lost a dear one. God bless. Trish xx
