Had a big wedding - got married in the Catherdral, marquee at my parents pub, 6 bridesmaids...loads went wrong though! Disco cancelled 2 days before, youngest bridesmaid had black eye, another forgot shoes and had trainers on under dress, car broke down at church, I swore on video (shameful I know but can only tell if pointed out!), my dress ripped along the sleeve and to top it off we went to Yugoslavia for our honeymoon and got sent home after a few days as the war started!!! Still together with 2 kids 15 years later though and wouldn't have changed a thing! Dawn |

Best day of my life, despite having to get the paramedics out to one of step daughter's friends and Mr Medlock's ex wife trying to kill herself the following day, making us late to go away for our honeymoon! Love him more every day Sheila |

3rd marriage this September. Civil ceremony in a hotel, I'd already done church & registry office and as he was wedding virgin we compromised. We wrote our own vows, chose the music and picked 4 witnesses 2 minutes before the service. My grandson was the rose bearer, 2 grandaughters were bridesmaids and my 4 four children gave me away, this made it family orientated although it was large wedding. We invited the whole world and it's mother to the reception and thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. |

How weird this appearing when Saturday is our 39th wedding anniversary. 16th December 1967 sky blue but obviously cold. Wedding dress white velvet, made by my best friend, 3 bridesmaids in burgundy velvet - two little ones had muffs. Buffet for about 60 - went out with friends on the night . no honeymoon - but for our 25th went to Paris - perhaps for our 40th might go back to Paris. Back to wedding - something borrowed was veil and headdress - something blue - wait for this - remember bloomers - well mine were blue - well it was December lol. Anyway some folks thought it would never last but dont think I will change hubby now!!! Mary in Spain xx |

What lovely stories!!!! Makes me feel better now. We married nearly two yrs ago, in Mansfield register office, we'd decided only 4 WEEKS BEFORE to get married! Had flowers and music, gorgeous dress that was too tight cos I thought I could squeeze into a 10/12, my false nails came off just as I got out of limosine lol, so had to rip the rest off. GALE FORCE winds, my veil and hair went everywhere, and the registrar didnt have a mirror I could borrow, lol. My daughter was bridesmaid, my son pageboy, hubby's best friend as best man. Lovely ceremony. Reception was afternoon buffet and drinks in a grotty pub lol, as we'd left it too late to get anywhere else. But had 3 tier cake, professional photos, speeches and gifts for the mums, bridesmaid, etc, etc. Had a DJ for music, although no-one danced lol. Then my mum had the kids while we went to a bridal suite in a local hotel for the night. By having the wedding in January, my gran, who was terminally ill, was able to be there. Any later, and she would have been too ill. Sometimes, I just wish we'd had a church wedding and a huge disco at night, in a really posh hotel, champagne fountain etc, lol. |

My third and last wedding was fantastic, my son gave me away, another Son, just back from Iraq led us down the Aisle, holding his litle girls hand, in his dress suit from the army, I had 6 bridesmaids, all family, two page boys, grandsons, a ring boy, step grand son, and family everywhere, my Stephen was there, and all was fantastic, it just passed so quick. magical, every thing was burgundy and gold, even our hair-lovely. Car, cake, and all, burgundy and gold, lush. |

A misty December day, 37 years ago.........a register office ceremony, with only 10 people present. But, it's the marriage that matters, and ours has been, and still is, a very happy one. Reg |

I'm an only daughter and I swear my mother had been saving from the day I was born. Preparations began nearly a year in advance. It was a fabulous day, everything I could have dreamed of, even the weather was sunny. Gwynne |

my first one was a winter wedding in a church with all the family. My second one was a lovely summer wedding in a park here in Auckland. We had the big dress, and the suits and the flowers etc, but just very close family and friends. It was a truly wonderful day! |

The happiest day of my life - It was worth it all to see the look on my dad's face when I had got ready and the conversation that I had with my dad whilst witing for the car is one that I will treasure for the rest of my days. My OH and I paid for it all and my dad was a tad miffed but told me how proud that he was that I had showed that I was ready to stand on my own two feet and that his work as a parent was done - but he would always be there for me - and he was until the day he died. |
