OK here it is again. Why do we see so many threads nudged up again and again, flooding the board with them? There is nothing at all wrong with the threads in themselves, many are worthy causes, many are good ongoing game threads. But...do we need to nudge them ALL at the same time, shoving newer threads, probably active topical threads at that, off of page 1? As someone said to me, if they are nudged up too often, people actually don't notice them. It would be far more effective if they were nudged once or twice a day, keeping them within the first few pages, and easily found. Also, coming in to the boards and seeing a page full of old threads puts some off bothering to post, as it doesn't seem as though anything else is actually going on. This is not pointed at anyone in particular, nor at any thread in particular, nor were any posts harmed in the making of this thread! ;-)

Me too - like I said before. I tend to skim past them, unseen because they are always 'there'. I can't be the only one to do that, so constant nudging defeats the object a bit. Mags x

No Need Lesley...they made me smile :-)) Mags, thanks for your comments again. It does defeat the object, and the possible reason the boards have long quiet periods. I wait until all threads have been nudged before posting again myself. If I don't, then it gets lost among all the nudges.

To be honest, theres nothing stopping members nudging other threads to the top to save them getting lost. Threads which are saying is so and so there and im going for a wee Etc are far more irritating and in my opinion clutter the board up far more than the nudge threads. But there is room on the board for all, however irritating the thread/s are... Ps Teresa, diddnt you used to add to Lyndas Nudge thread yourself ?? E x :o)))

Elaine Yes I did, but not too often I hope. But when the board got flooded with hundred of the bloomin things I have stopped. As I said, I'm not trying to say these threads are not worthy, or that they shouldn't be nudged at all. But do they ALL need to be nudged up at the same time, thus ousting threads that, while may not interest some, DO interest others and are currently active?

~~~Secret Red ^^ Squirrel~~~ **007 1/2** Report 13 Dec 2006 19:56
As I said yesterday, I'm not against nudging threads, however my opinion is that there have been times lately where so many threads have been nudged at roughly the same time just to keep them on page 1 (by different people on different subjects, albeit worthy subjects) that there have hardly been any active threads on the board ie where there is new conversation. This isn't aimed at individual threads or individual people. Many people do it for worthy reasons. I still think that these threads should be nudged but not so for the purpose of keeping them on page 1 ALL the time. This is just my opinion and as I said yesterday I'm not the boss of these boards lol
It is difficult Tw i agree, when you look on the first page and so many threads are nudged, when so many are so important it is very difficult, Elaine, threads which seem trivial can be fun too surely? Caz xxxx
*giggling* I have yet to see a thread announcing someone departure to the loo, but I know what you mean. However there have been some serious topical discussions, such as the Ipswich murders which have suddenly dropped off page 1 because of all the nudges. THAT is what I am talking about.
