The Prince of Wales is not far but many prefer the country pub atmosphere of The Botolph's Bridge. Interesting that you mention renaming. Hythe, a nearby town had The Red Lion,- an old coaching inn, I believe. New owners named it The Waters Edge, but everyone still used to catch a bus to Red Lion Square and thought little of the new pub sign depicting a barge on a canal ( The nearby Royal Military Canal has never had that sort of use) Eventually the pub was repainted, renamed again and is now the Red Lion once more. Hi Dee, we spend a fair amount of time in there, but usually drinking coffee, although OH spent a lot of time in there watching the world cup. Albino's son had to drive him home one night as he wasn't fit to drive, nor walk. It's really a men's drinking bar, but can get full of expats at times, but nobody minds. I don't miss British pubs, other than drink driving, drinking is fairly relaxed here. Rosalind

Teresa and Shirley you seem to have had differing experiences Anne, you are well served for pubs, we have only the one we can walk to, and then it is a long uphill walk home Dee xx

Bar Navalnica, usually known as Albino's. If anyone Portuguese wants to know where we are, we just send them to him first. Rosalind
