The Prince of Wales is not far but many prefer the country pub atmosphere of The Botolph's Bridge. Interesting that you mention renaming. Hythe, a nearby town had The Red Lion,- an old coaching inn, I believe. New owners named it The Waters Edge, but everyone still used to catch a bus to Red Lion Square and thought little of the new pub sign depicting a barge on a canal ( The nearby Royal Military Canal has never had that sort of use) Eventually the pub was repainted, renamed again and is now the Red Lion once more.
