What a lovely surprise for you Reg, so pleased for you. When I met with a cousin for the first time in the summer, he told me that his dad lost all his photos during his travels round the world - his parents had seperated and my uncle hadn't passed on any pictures, so my cousin has nothing from his early years. My uncle also got rid of all my cousin's toys and things, when he split from his mum. I hope your new family delve deep - they might find some more pictures one day. Liz |

I know how you feel Reg. A contact that I made on this site sent me a family photo, which she didn't realise, showed my mum as a little girl, with my grandparents. I had the photo enlarged and framed for mums birthday. She loved it, but cried when I gave her it. |

Reg, thats just wonderful!! My mother was brought up by her father and his parents always believing her mother had died when she was about 4, she'd never see a picture of her mum. Last year I found out that she hadn't died and my mother has 3 sisters and a brother. My Mums now 67. Just before last Christmas I had photo's of them all for my mum and even a photo of her when she was 2. Then I found out my mums mother was still alive. This year mum got to meet her mother after 63 years, a very happy day for all the children and there mother together at last. Sadly my grandmother died last month but at least she and mum got to be together for a short while and now my mum has some memories of her mother and is able to start building relationships with her sisters and brother. Fiona. x |

Reg, I am sooo happy for you! And you know what? It makes me feel less guilty for keeping everything that was ever part of my family! This house is like a shrine with all the photographs and family memorabilia I hang on to! ...I only hope that one day my hoard will make someone just as happy as you are today! Many best wishes for the happiest Christmas ever xxxx Dee x |

Dee, I am the same, now all I have to do is write on all the pics etc - I had a huge bag full of photos from my mum's when she died, I had suggested when dad was ill, they write on the photos but they didn't so sadly there are about 50% who mean nothing as I don't know who they are. Luckily I have many I do recognise and my relatives have helped a lot too, with many different photos of grandparents and greatgrandparents. Liz Fiona, that was lovely , your mum able to meet her mum. What memories she has now, and more family to learn about too. |
