Jeff I'm sure you're right! Unfortunately, Lancashire is one of the few counties in which I have ancestors! Ann From memory, the Old Man wasn't TOO taxing (?), but I must admit I prefer walking on the level. We do enjoy walking in the Cotswolds (I note you're from Glos!) Angela

Angela, we have climbed Old man too, on a hot clear day in May one year and the view from the top is wonderful. I did doubt at times if we'd make it to the top but we couldn't be shown up by our three grandsons could we who were about 7, 10 and 11. And who practically ran up!! Ann Glos

Angela, This type of english is as old as the hills, it has been spoken in Lancashire for many years by my ancestors and if it was good enough fer 'em then it's good enough fer me. Jeff xx Lolol

Oh Catherine, I'm sure those firemen would have pulled in lots of peeps if they were showing their equipment. lol. Hope you had a lovely time. It's been very foggy here today and very cold since dinnertime, so I haven't been out much. Feeling ok now as I'm sat here with mi bottle of Baileys just going through the threads. I don't live far from Manchester Cath, the village of Adlington just beneath Rivington Pike. You should pay us a visit and see the Lancashire lake district, it's lovely. the offer is also open to Caz as well, so come along you two Jeff xxx

pmsl Ann hope you are well-yes sorry It was a play on words I suppose but very true I might add. you know the greater manchester fire brigade were in the park sorting the trees out, cos during those storm the other week loads of trees had come down, some been there for years was so sad. Still it brightened my day........ How lucky to have family in the lakes-mind Oh's cousin has a house in Windermere, which caz has visited and it's so lovely. We spent a wonderful weekend last year there. But my fav is my family's cottage in wales, it's a pure haven. catherine xx

Evening Catherine. still chuckling at your original post on here 'firemen....equipment' the mind bogles. well it could be the wine I suppose!!! It was really foggy this morning but then sunny and cold all day no fog this evening. Love the Hawkeshead area too. Daughter has just bought a flat to let as holiday let in Far Sawrey, it is in a beautiful old house called Sawrey Knotts. We were walking round Hawkeshead just before christmas when all the Christmas trees were lit up - magic. Caz, love Coniston too. always fancied owning Brantwood and sitting in the tower room with the wonderful view of Old Man across the lake. Ann Glos
