Hi Carol, Lets hope they change yours to a year, but I expect it won't be long before they make everyones 6 months. The thing is they are not consistent in quoting prices. Christine |

I have replied on similar threads in the past and i still think the same. Granada is a business , it saw a niche in the market where it had become increasingly obvious that more and more people are interested in researching their roots and so it bought into it. Now it earns money from the advertisements it shoves on here as well as from membership fee's from the likes of you and me. Ive said it before and il say it again ............. Granada are only in business with this site because of US if we withdrew our information , there wouldn't be much of a site left. If they continue to threaten us with higher charges and/ or shorter periods of membership then i will seriously consider subscribing to Ancestry.com where you really do have the facilities to do a proper search. The only thing i would miss about this site is the kind folks who are available for a chat or a bit of help. |

Aileen They DO say on their TV advert that you can search for free (which is true). They DON'T say on their TV advert that, if you want more info, you have to pay. (Be it contacting other members or obtaining census info etc). Angela |

I am sure on their advert they say something about searching for your ancestors for Free! No where can I recall it even mentioning membership. Aileen xxxx |

Have been reminded my Friends membership runs out soon, as does this one, and FR is £7.50, I assumed it was for year, so will check. Have now ticked the continuous box so they can take it automatically. GR says full membership is £9.95 for a year. Just checked FR and definitely £7.50 for year. |

I suppose it just shows that they are ignorant of what is going on in the genealogical world and just interested in making money. A pity the papers can't get hold of it, that would deter people from paying if they knew how much they have put it up. It was predictable as soon as they took over. Ann Glos |

They say that they are doing a lot of advertising to attract new members but I don't see how doubling the price will attract them. Christine |

that is some mark up from £7.50 to £19 in a year. Wonderful ITV. Well if it goes up to that for existing members (&I didn't think I would ever say this) I would not join. ann Glos Ann Glos |
