Prompted by Racey Stacey’s thread, I’ve just signed up for the CRUK Race for Life and I’m doing it for my Mum. Medically, it’s not the most sensible decision I’ve ever made, but I’m going to walk it and I’m just waiting for them to ring me back and confirm that hubby can walk with me so that I can hold his arm (he’s marginally better looking than a walking stick lol!). I’m really nervous now but very determined. I don’t care if I’m in pain and have to sleep for days afterwards, it will be nothing compared to what Mum (and others) went through. I know she'll be looking down and cheering me on. Mandy :) |

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting any of you to sponsor me, thank you! As soon as they allocate my reference number, I can open a webpage, so I'll let you know. C/Zero - thank you very much for that kind offer. They will let men in as volunteers but it's usually for wheelchair users or visually impaired. The poor girl on the phone had never had someone with M.E. wanting to do it before lol! Mandy :) |

I'm still waiting to hear from them, so I don't want to set up my sponsorship webpage until they get back to me. You're all very kind, I wasn't expecting people who don't even know me to sponsor me! Liz, I'm on the outskirts of Trowbridge. Strump, their advice isn't very clear. The website says you can have a male with you if you're a wheelchair user (they have to register as a volunteer) so I rang to see if that included people who were just not very strong on their feet for that distance and the girl said she thought it was just for the visually impaired. I bet hubby rings them up secretly and begs them not to let him walk lol! Mandy :) |

Well done Mandy and Gaynor, Someone I work with did the Great North run 3 years ago in memory of her mum. It gave her great strength and a real focus. I heard a whisper about this at lunchtime today!!! Love Anne xx |
