Sit down and think really hard about how life would be for them if they didn't have you around/or you in very poor health. Spend some time doing this. (sorry - that's all I could think of unless you emigrate to somewhere where cigarettes don't exist ie the moon lol) Good luck. I hope you succeed. :-) |

Have you tried reading Alan Carrs book the easy way (to give up smoking) I have to confess after a year off I always return to the cigs but that has been the only thing has ever worked for me all 6 or 7 times I have managed it lol. Also I made sure for the first few weeks I had really strong horrid tasting sweets in my bag that burnt my throat and for some odd reason I found that helped. Good luck xx |

Clare, it must be hard. I've never smoked so don't know what you are going through. I know my grandad struggled with them. My dad just decided to give up one day when I was very little and just gave up. However, I know that most people cannot do this. My aunt (his sister) has tried numerous times and still smokes. Do you usually smoke at certain times? eg when you have a cup of tea/coffee during a certain TV programme. You may need to change your habits so that you're not tempted to smoke. |

I'm sure you've done this too - work out how much money you will save a week/month/year if you didn't smoke. Put that money towards a particular goal/treat eg holiday Put the money aside that you would use to buy cigarettes for the week. If you buy a pack deduct the money for them. Any money that you manage to save at the end of the week/month put into a separate bank account. At the end of the year spend it on that goal if you have enough money. |

why don't you choose a perfect holiday, somewhere that you really really want to go with your family. Draw up an itinerary of what you are going to do. Imagine it all in your head. Cut out the pictures from the brochures and keep it in your handbag. When you go to pick up a cigarette, look at the pictures first (and those of your children) |

Clare if you do it through the chemist im sure you would be better off coz its like a goal , a bit like weight watchers ... you go in and blow in a tube and then they see if you have been smoking atleast then you wont smoke coz you will be cheating only on yourself <, does that make sence lol Rosex |

Imagine you are me!! My arteries clogged and in 1992 my right leg nigh on stopped working was threatend with having it cut off. Three angioplasties later over several years and with 3 stents in my gut artery it's still working but at reduced power. 1995 admitted to Coronary Care 4am one morning when I said to myself if I survived I'd stop smoking - I did. 1997 major surgery for cancer - again, linked to smoking. Your choice ain't it? Yes, I know it's hard (I smoked over 20 a day) but I hope I've scared you and got you thinking. Good luck - You need it!! |
