The stuff we use has never caused an odour problem. It is made from pine and actually smells quite nice even after it has been used. A very small amount is used as it swells up so it has been very economical. Jacky :-)

could have something to do with what the cat does in it try adding some shake and vac to it or train it to do it in next doors garden saves you having to have a smelly litter tray haha only joking i used to breed baldy cats i tried every cat litter on the planet and none were odour free my last one died 5 years ago aged 14 his mum and dad got to 19 bless them i miss them i now have 2 akitas that hate cats but next doors cat sneaks in all the time and even brings her friends haha

Use different cat litter!! Mine (well the one the cat's use lol) only really smells when I clean it out and reach the pee that's sunk to the bottom. Really good for clearing the bronchials though!!! Aaah ammonia!!! maggie

Yeah, my cat seems to save a big one up for after I've just changed the litter tray! Arrgh - nightmare when you're expecting visitors, eh? To try to cut down on the smell, though, I usually spray the actual tray out with Dettox or similar, before putting in the bin liner and newspaper, followed by a good sprinkling of the lavender scented litter freshener shake thingy, then I pour in the cat litter and add some more of the shake stuff on top and mix it in a bit. You have to be diligent and scoop the poop regularly and change the litter completely at least once every 3 days, with sprinklings of the lavender stuff every so often. I've tried all types of cat litter, from the cheap Tesco's own brand to the most expensive brands - haven't found any that are particularly better than the rest. Maybe my cat is just a stinky pooper LOL!

Dear Lairy Fairy, I have tried I don't know how many bags of cat litter altogether and most of them smell awful when the cat has gone to the loo, but I highly recommend 'Thomas' cat litter, I buy two 16 litre bags and it lasts me ages and there is no smell. I buy it from our local Makro wholesalers it's about £2.98 plus vat a bag. Funnily enough I have just changed my 'Barney's' litter tray about an hour ago. That will last until Friday or Saturday before it needs replacing. Best wishes from Diane...................

Hi Lairy Fairy, I was wondering would it harm to use that shake and vac in amongst the cat litter just to clear the smell? Just a thought. Regards Diane.......
