I got sent out of Art for talking - had to stand in the corridor while my brother and all his mates walked past - sooooo embarassing. Had a few lots of lines for talking, giggling and writing on the blackboard - but never did anything really bad. Kate |

Usually for messing about. I got the cane in the Infants and then again in the Juniors for pushing and shoving with someone when we were supposed to be lining up to come into class. In the Grammar School we got the strap. I remember getting a real hard whack for reading the Beano in the English Literature Lesson. |

All the time, where do I begin........................... Sent out of assembly in front of whole school, 1,500 girls, head said it was the first time she had`done this in 15 years of being a head................... Headmistress knew my VERY well, was on daily reports for the head more than I wasnt. Returned a compass to another pupil in the class in an English lesson and dreadful consequences, it landed in her head, after that suspended, then a rule that all compasses had to have a rubber or cork on the end, it was total stupidity on my part and was not deliberate. Spent many days in Room 14, which was`a room where naughty girls were sent to cool down and then a head of year had to sign you back to class after 2 or 3 days. Got caught by Head dancing on the grand piano playing an imaginary guitar to my friends, she said my parents would have to pay for the re-tuning if it had to be re-tuned. Banned from school at lunchtime because school dinner ladies said I was too much of a handful, had to go home everyday. School report read things like 'Immature behaviour from Jayne is retarding her progress' , 'Between bouts of explosive high spirits Jayne occasionally produces good work' 'Jayne is too fond of making her voice and opinions heard' 'If Jaynes fondness for burlesque...............' 'Jayne does have the potential but appears disinclined to exploit it' Wouldnt you have just loved me in your class? How did the story end - Stayed on the 6th form and got 2 A levels and 8 O levels, typing and shorthand and been in management jobs since the age of 22 now 46, so obviously I did learn something and proved them wrong!!! Have been back to the school since and given a talk to the girls on how successful I became from a school background that was less than even quite good. Jayne |

Frequently, but one of the funniest things I remember was a friend of mine who was in the same music class as me. We all hated music and she decided to hide in the loft above the music room, we all knew she was there but none dare let on 'cos we didn't want her to get caught. We were about 12/13 then Janet |

Only once seriously when I was 10 yrs old.!! I was always in charge of the class nature table and one day brought some newts, frog spawn and frogs to school( I was a right tom-boy) anyway the only thing I could find to put them into was a huge glass bowl found in teacher's cupboard. How was I supposed to know it was her best crystal from home to put her flowers in! She was not amused! Must have left a big impression on me,remembering the story after all these years. Also remember whole class,...42 of us! queueing up to get the cane because person who was talking didn't own up when asked, and it wasn't me that time! (although I do own up I was a real chatterbox) lol Happy memories even if I did get the cane :0( Mau ;0)) xx |

I was never in a fight or anything like that, but never got home early from school was always on detention. Still have my school reports as well, they are good laugh and on my last report said I would never get a job. I got the last laugh, went to college at 21 for 5 years and ended up with a good job with good money. Would love to meet some of the old teachers just see their face drop. Still a wild child at heart. |

So do I Gwen, won't let my kids see them though lol I did my school work and was in the top sets but needed to be kept amused or would become a bit miscievous and get into trouble, but it was the break times that I was the most trouble. |

Well one time I got into trouble really sticks in my mind. We were in the library at lunch time a girl ( never got into trouble !!!) pushed a lad in the cupboard and slammed the door on him. I had just got up to change a book and in walked the deputy head. Who got the blame ME!!! no amount of pleading would convince him I wasn't involved and so that afternoon when everyone went out on a trip I had to stay behind . One of my friends accidently on purpose left her beret at home so she couldn't go either ( she hadn't but she wouldn't leave me on my own). More than once this sort of thing happened so is it any wonder if I child says a teacher is picking on them I tend to take the childs side first. Can't say my later school years were happy ones and I still say it wasn't all my fault. No I wasn't an angel but did tend to get blamed for others misdemeanors (spl?) Couldn't get out quick enough. Luckily I grew up lol Gaynor :-) |

We were in the 6th form and having a talk from a teacher who HATED me (she made me sit next to her in assembly cos I talked so much lol) and she was explaining how you weren't allowed to be sick or to faint in the examination room (!). One of my friends asked me to what she said ... I turned and repeated it to her ... and got sent out in front of everyone!! All my friends thought it was hilarious and still never let me forget it - soooo embarassing at age 18, and it was all Mary's fault - not even mine!!! Maz. XX ps apart from incessant talking (rabbit rabbit) I was a very good girl at school O;-) |
