last january my OH needed treatment and he had to pay £93 even though we are entitled to free treatment. He then registered with the primary health care trust and they register you with a dentist when one has a vacancy so he has now had a free check up and is registered with them. I have been with the same dentisit for 18 years but they wont take any of my family on their books either. Not like the GP who has all the family on one register.

that sounds like a great plan lol think i will have to have several removed - havent been to a dentist in close to 10 years - thank god my boys regularly see a dentist through our local health centre. As much as i dont like going its a bl**dy scandal that children cant see a dentist - suppose we are lucky that our local sure start started up the childrens dentist

Good morning Lorraine.. I am not much good with dentists either, tend to spend my time gripping the chair and praying was it the Victorians who used to pay to have all their teeth removed when young and dentured fitted so as not to have to suffer in later life? think they had the right idea..lol

Good morning Gwyn, Thanks for the tip, will phone the docs if i dont manage to get emergancy dentist. Thankfully the girls dont have sugar of any kind ( apart from natural sugars that are in foods) and have not as yet had one filling between them.. but they still need check ups and braces..

Good morning all Sorry to hear about your tooth, Em. If you think you have an infection maybe a doctor would give you antibiotics before you have to go for actual treatment. I agree, there are not enough NHS dentists and with some youngsters having a high sugar diet nowadays, I can see big problems ahead regarding general dental health. Hope you feel better soon. Gwyn

Our Report 21 Mar 2007 06:12

Good morning Gwynne, I would perhaps go private if it was only me that needed treatment, but i have the three girls to pay for too.. and hubby.. Far too much for us being 5 of us,

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 21 Mar 2007 06:10

Mornin' Em, Hope you find a dentist. Ours went private about 15 years ago and we decided to stay with him because he was so good but it's costing us a fortune now. Most of the treatment we had from him before was 'private' anyway - different fillings from NHS type etc. Gwynne
