Well I won't get the extra if only first child is entitled as she stops getting it this year. So if the second don't get what the first isn't getting then....... *******sticks tongue out at G Brown********** |

Probably going to cause an argument here! But, I don't know why people get given money because they've had children?? |

Good I thought I may not get my xtra £2.50 a week from the very very nice Mr G Brown - thankyou Mr Brown - lol It will go towards eveything else that he has put up in price today!!. AL - I must admit that sometimes I don't think it should just be given, I think some of it should be like the Child trust fund vouchers and have to be put away until a child is 18, but on the otherside I can see that some people rely on it for the things they need for children |

I split what I get each month between the two kids............ oldest just dips into her's when she wants stuff that we say she doesn't need - lol and the youngest hasn't touched his yet and so at nearly 12 he has a nice nest egg building up! I'll give him two more years and he will have raided it. |

Talking about Child Benefit and Tax credits etc... A Polish guy where OH works here in UK has claimed Benefits for his children living in Poland..... and has been awarded them!!! Whilst OH's British 75 year old colleague is still having to work because he doesn't have enough contributions to retire after 42 years working in this country! What is this country coming to? Gaynor |

Why the heck are we paying for kids that live in Poland - are they English and living out there or Polish born and bred? |

I just checked out who is entitled to claim this and it seems that all EU countries can! No wonder people flood the country - so do I feel guilty taking the child benefit? you can bet your bottom dollar I dont feel any guilt at all. Debs x (In shock) |

Unfortunately child benefit is essential to some families on a low income, raising a child or children is an expensive business. I'm not just talking about getting what they want, I mean getting what they need! Think I'll come and live where you are Theresa....what do I do to qualify for your pay outs, must I be resident for a minimum term, hmm, maybe I'll have another child....or two, triplets or quads!!? lol Nanna-Moo ;-)) |

I've no problem with those on low incomes receiving child benefit but I do think it should be means tested. It doesn't seem right that couples earning huge salaries should receive state assistance. |

Ah yes, but those earning huge salaries also pay huge amounts of tax, so why shouldn't they get something back for their trouble? |
