Tell me about it...as they say....I work with someone who 'borrows' money to a friend....many more who don't know the difference between 'their' and 'there' - 'here' and 'hear' ...and I could go on.....and what about 'estuary English'....if we aere able to 'fast forward' 20 years would we think we were in a foreign land....they say that language evolves...to me it is 'evolving' far too quickly

(I wasn't going to comment on the brain hehehe) It does not contravene the Data Protection Act and in fact there are a number of initiatives currently going on line that do just that - send messages via SMS. In fact there are now moves afoot to do things like inform immigrants when their work visas etc are runing out via SMS. E-voting is also being trialled in a number of areas (about eight I think) which uses the same technology.

Dave, don't exit left just yet. Wot response ? I am quite serious about the written and spoken word and do correct my children or raise the odd eyebrow when they slip into colloquialisms. Only yesterday after proof reading my daughter's college work (she is working in a school teacher training) and suggesting amendments, her college tutor commented that seeing as the work had already been proof read by the school that she could not have the extra opportunity needed to resubmit ! Ah Ah Ah I thought. So I'm not fick after all, Joan x
