Just to let you know that Charlie is staying overnight at the vets. He is on a drip and strong antibiotics. It seems like he has a large infection around the bowel area. The vet rang me to say that he still looks weak and weary but he is calm and settled. She will check him tomorrow and if fine he should be able to come home with medication. The house seems so empty without him I can't wait to get him home again. |

Wendy, glad your dog is being looked at by the vet and hope they can sort him out soon. It is scary to see your pet ill but best to get treatment as soon as poss, saves so much worry on your part and pain and suffering on the part of the dog. Hope he is soon home again and his usual self. Liz |

Hi you must take your dog to the vets straight away i have a little shitzu molly who suffers from this , she got so bad once that she was passing blood from both ends and we nearly lost her. You dog will dehydrate if you do not get fluids into him. Hope all goes well if treated soon enough he will be fine lorraine |

Thank you all for giving me a good kick. Charlie is now at the vets and he will have x-rays and blood tests today. The vet said she could feel a large lump in his tummy and she wanted to investigate before making a diagnosis though she is concerned. They will ring me later with the results which I'm praying will be good. I will update later when I know something. Thank you all again. |

Hi Wendy My dog had similar symptoms last year. We found out after that he had been eating strange mushrooms that kept appearing in the garden !!! His belly blew up and he was gassy. He was lethargic and sorry for himself too. Vet couldn't tell me what it was he had eaten and just gave me stuff to rehydrate him.We KNEW he had eaten something bad but it took us a while to realise what. He was poorly til the mushrooms stopped growing. Then one day he went out in the garden and went to the toilet about 20 times continuously, his belly went down and that was that. He went back to normal again. Hopefully it will be something similar with your lad. Put your mind at rest though hon and take him to the vet you will feel so much better afterwards xx |

Wendy, This has been going on since Monday and today's Thursday!!!!! I hope you've already left for the vet by now. Any delay in treatment could jeopardise his recovery. The sooner he gets treated the better the prognosis. Procrastinating and dithering won't help him any. Rose |

YOU MUST GET TO THE VET ASP or call him out ,poor dog may be suffering in pain and it would be cruel for you to let him suffer,,,,,,,,plus if he died or the vet cant treat you could be charged with neglect,,,,,,,,,,,I understand how frightining you feel but PLEASE dont delay,,,,,,,,,,animals have this amazing recovery time......... |
