I have just got back from a visit to Chislehurst Caves and it seems a baby was born and christened there during the Second World War. Have you found any babies born in strange places? (no prizes for the wit who comes up with ‘under a gooseberry bush') ;-)))) |

Hi One of my friends had her fourth just before Christmas in a people carrier on the drive outside her house. Don't know what the car is except it's green, but the baby's a girl. Ought to ask her what the birth certificate says..... She wants to sell the car now, but it was on the front page of the Herne Bay Gazette, so I don't think she'll be able to sell it privately, as everyone will know..... Lysianne |

An ex workmate's son was born in the back seat of his Dad's car in a layby on Epsom Downs whilst they were on route to hospital. His birth certificate says Derby Stables Road, Epsom, which is the name of the nearest road! Sue xx |

Read in either 1891 or 1901 census Un-named mother (a stranger) with 1 day old child: in room over the stable, at the vicarage. Wonder what they called him??? Jay |

Hi Dee not strange but methinks funny , I was born in Aldershot Military Hospital and it appears that the Army ambulance rushed to the hospital with my mum inside , my dad who was a strapping Sgt had already been taken to the hospital to meet my mum there, well it seems that the ambulance arrived and my dad in a panic ripped open the door which fell onto his foot breaking it. So we have muffer on one trolley and father on another being rushed into the hospital so I could be born .:-))))))))))))))) |

One of my Brownies was born on the cross channel ferry coming over from Germany to the UK. Her birth certificate actually gave the ships location in the North Sea ! Daphne |
