What make do you have? How old is it? Is it reliable - ie has it needed to be serviced? I have a Hotpoint Aquarius - which is 7 years old - washes fine altho it makes a few odd noises now - has never been serviced - and in truth my only gripe is that the softener doesn't get flushed through properly nowadays - have tried alsorts of descaling methods to no avail.........

In a fit of madness 10 years ago I bought an AEG washer dryer which was still working fine when Mr Medlock scrapped it when we had the kitchen done! They're expensive, but well worth the money. I bought mine on interest free credit, which made the cost bearable. Sheila

my machine is fantastic, it washes, dries, irons and puts away! its made of wicker and sits in my bedroom. i put the dirty stuff in and 3 days later it's all in my drawers ironed and tidy. think it might be made of magic!

Wish I had a 'washer/wife' who did all mine, lol By the way, I have just replaced my Hoover Washer/Dryer which was 10 years old and bought another (same make - newer model). It was only the dryer motor that burned out - washer was still fine, and it's on almost every day, sometimes three or four loads. Kath. x

Meile bought in 1990 still going strong and still looks new. Over time replaced all my appliances with Miele as they are so reliable. I think they now give a ten year gaurentee on washing machines. Win

Thanks :O)) Wondered if Meile would get a vote lol Had one of their hoovers and regret getting shot of it. My bro has a Meile and it's donkeys years old - doesn't look very pretty but is obviously worth the investment ...........

Anne my machine wont do the softener either have come to the conclusion that its because its cold fill only. Mines a hoover and have had loads of things go wrong on it but have a coverplan on it so is worth it

I have a Bosch. I do miss not having a 50 wash. I tend to use 40 all the time now. One problem which I hear is common is holes get bunged up where the softner is,so it doesnt wash in softner...if you know what I mean. It can be sorted by un clogging the holes though. Drawers get very black and gungy, so need to clean it more than I did with my hotpoint. Marion

I have a Zanussi Nexus. It's 13 years old and (touch wood!) have never had a problem. It has had some hammer though, as I wash at least once a day, usually twice. Sharonx
