Hi Can you tell me, Why is it so many people on here think it's ok to pick on others. After reading some of the threads on here i think that after the years i have been on here, it's time to pack it in as the site has got so bad. I see people pick on others and think what the hell are they doing to this site. This site is for people to do a family tree and to chat to others, Not to be like a school bully. Think it's time to either say something to GR or leave the site. ............ What would you say to GR if you thought they would listen to you?

I've said it all before, Ron. 1) log credit card numbers and IP addresses to stop fake IDs. 2) have a moderator on call 24/7 to delete the rubbish before it has chance to get started. 3) suspend people who can't control their tempers for a week - an 8 week ban is too harsh for some 'offences'. 4) If the same people keep losing the plot and continue posting the same abuse then ban them for life - a check on credit card numbers and IP addys could make this happen Gwynne

Sadly, Ron, I don't think there is much to say that hasn't been said. Whether GR take note or not I don't know, I have never contacted them about anything on here. I think the most likely scenario is that GR will get fed up with it and shut this board down.

I very rarely post here. all of this bullying/backbiting etc.. could easily be solved.... MODERATORS!!!!!!!! why oh why isnt there any?? With GR being So BIG, alot of the trouble could be nipped in the bud! sadly I can see if this carries on, that the whole of the 'boards' will be Locked Like Last september again. SAD! Julie

If they had to put the membership up by 50p per member to help pay for it, the members would not mind if it ment they could come on here and chat nicely to others with no fear of a bully turning nasty

I agree with you Ron, GR need to get moderators on here, zap the nasty stuff before it hits the boards. x

Of course there should be moderators and several of them. I agree about the 8 week suspension - in most cases a week would do just fine. Longer than that and you have the 'martyr' effect. Board names - yes, I know most of the changes are in good faith/fun but it's the only forum I use that has this immediate ability. I think we should have one name only and alteration should be sanctioned by admin.

Lets hope they listern to the paying customers i say, Lilxx

I agree Woody,the name changes are a huge problem,it should be stopped! I know most do it for fun,but a small minority do it for other reasons,which is not acceptable.

Woody I have to go out now but just wanted you to know i agree with what you have said. If GR don't do anything that the members keep repeatingly asking for, that alone shows what they think of the members they have left on here at the moment. Come GR give us some MODARATORS on here please Log all isp and card numbers If people repeatedly couse trouble as some do at the moment ban them, if they keep doing it after a little ban then give a life ban to them. we've been round the tables with this before......... i truly believe that as long as GR are getting their membership money, they dont really give two hoots! about their PAYING members. The 'Family Tree Forum' is Small (by comparison) to this site, However, we have 14-15 moderators on a site that has 1,422 members, We do NOT tolerate this kind of behavior from our members.

Hello Ron:o)) Agree with everything said so far, but l also think its time that ITV were asked to intervene - they can't go advertising this site on the telly without knowing what goes on - surely?? thing is do they know or not?? GR don't appear (l say 'don't appear to be doing anything'!!) to be doing anything about the abuse, except apparently this morning a thread has been deleted and in the past many threads have been deleted - not stopped others being posted though. Hello Jude, ITV are no use either, when they blew up in a bad way 6 months or so ago, I emailed ITV twice.....no reply.....useless....

Hi , Well first number 1 wouldnt work,,,firstly all memberships done via a C/C details are encrypeted and GR have no access to know these details,lots of people have access to more than one C/C often not in thier own name,,,,,and loads of people have more than one email. address,and GR can be accessed from any internet cafe ,,,,,,,,,plus the use of a laptop can present other problems,not all GR members may be home users, ?

Kay, I take your point but GR could log IP addresses and could unencrypt credit card numbers. All the abuse I've seen on here is in the middle of the night in the UK and I doubt that people run round all night internet cafes just to post abuse. Gwynne
