Has anyone ever noticed that when they dream and then turn over they dream someting else but then when they turn back the first dream starts again----------------or is it me Janet

Sharmala - tell him about my first bit- about the reptiles and other cold-blooded animals. No, better not. He does dream about 4 or 5 times a night but does not wake during a dream so does not remember. As an experiment, volunteers have been prevented from dreaming and they get into a very confused state after 72 hours without. Experiments discontinued for fear the volunteers might suffer permanent damage. Janet - thank you for your comment.. I'm alright from the neck up, thanks. len

Betty boo My hubby never dreams either says he never has thats why he always has such a good nights sleep lol. Me on the other hand dream constentley in full technicolor and always have. and sometimes thay are scary like when you are a child but grown up if you know what i mean. At the moment i dream of my mum who passed away last august and they are very upsetting. Sharmala.

Probably, Bob, because you have not woken sufficiently for your short-term memory to have let go of the dream. I too have had that experience and find the dream lingers on, unless I really wake up, go and spend a penny, then get back to bed by which time I cannot recall it. If it's a good dream, of course, I try and get back into it - although not always successfully.. len

why then, Len do I wake up in the middle of a dream, and when I try to get back to sleep, its still the same dream? Bob

Betty Boo. You would not be with us if you did not dream. You just do not recall them. As I said earlier, it is only the dream during which one awakes that is remembered.... and then for not very long unless it was an exceptional dream Do you daydream? len

Hi everyone, Just been reading over the thread and found it very interesting but I don't dream at all, why would that be? I have never had a dream in my life, don't know what its like to dream!!. Betty

Aw, that's a shame Len!!! Perhaps something spicy before you got to bed would help, like peppers or chilli, could work....! I can often direct my dreams and sometimes wake myself if I don't like what is happening or where they are going. I sometimes feel as though the dreams I am having are 'real life' and they do scare me, especially when I dreamt my Daughter had died, when she was younger, and I woke up believing we had lost her and had a funeral for her. I was in despair until I heard her laughing in her bedroom and realised I had been deaming! Was I relieved..... I am not a great admirer of Freud, he is a bit weird, well, he seems hung up on sex, was his answer to everything! I have a dream book with Freuds interpretations, everything you dream about relates to your sex life and parents!? Strange man...... Nanna-Moo ;-)

Nana Moo. Lucid dreams are those the course of which one can direct oneself. I used to do that years ago but have lost the knack. Perhaps it was when my dreams were more complex. They are mostly humdrum these day - no redheads. len

Fiona aka Ruby: Freud is somewhat discredited these days - when I was studying, we called him Freud the Fraud. His opinions on sexuality were ludicrous. Carl Jung, on the other hand is being more appreciated as time goes on. Particularly his writings on consciousness. Len

Two things which i can do in my dreams sometimes but can't in 'real life' are flying and swimming,both are always very positive experiences...would think it is symbolic of wanting to be free....... Rosexx

Jung published a lot of interesting theories about dream symbolism - I prefer him to Freud - but they seem strangely 'dated' and eurocentric now. Symbols presumable change over the years and across cultures

Fascinating Len I am a person who dreams a great deal, mainly after about 3 am, I sleep poorly form then on wards and feel in a constant dream state, Caz xxx
