Did anyone watch it? I taped it and watched tonight. The real reason they could not marry was when she was 17 she 'came out' and when her ball was over - she had lost her virginity. My husband who was not paying much attention but checking the runners for tomorrows big race nearly choked on the remark ' that the Shands had long serviced the royals for generations' and the other was that her husband would have regarded it as a feather in his cap that his wife was having an affair with the Prince of Wales'.

My first thought was that if she did become Queen, surely that's a contradiction in Royal Protocol, or whatever they call it. After all, they said that the Heir to the Throne should marry a virgin! I dunno, all these rules and regulations .............. Still not keen on her becoming Queen, for reasons I will keep to myself lol. x

This was a programme where her old friends were supposed to be showing how wonderful she was etc. etc. I must have missed that! Instead we are told Charles has a bad temper - so did George VI - he whinges about everything and anything - we know that too.

psml! I take it that you're all ardent royalists - otherwise you wouldn't be bothered who was queen. :-))

I personally hope never to see her as Queen in my lifetime - I'm 41 and Grandma lived to be 102 so that'll give you some idea on how long I hope to live!! xx

PinkDiana Report 1 Jun 2007 23:56

I don't dislike her either (never met the woman so would never comment on her as an individual) Just don't like what they did!! Adultery is adultery whether you are royalty or not and in my opinion its unacceptable! xx

If the pair of them had not connived/plotted and schemed for a quiet little girl not long out school to produce heirs and who would keep her mouth shut and accept her role in life - as did Queen Alexandra - then perhaps those two lovely boys would have their own mum still around to love and care for them.

I quite like Camilla and I, too, can see she has a good relationship with Princes William and Harry. Thats good enough for me, if they can accept her so can I. Tina x

Diana learned to fight back and to play dirty but the establishment left her on her own from day one - but in the beginning she was a young girl in love and had he played fair - the marriage may have had a chance.

According to the constitution the wife of the King is Queen so that's it really. I'd rather we didn't have a royal family at all but while we have got one we get no choice in who is King or Queen. Camilla seems nice enough to me. I don't subscribe to the 'Diana was a saint' philosophy. Neither she nor her husband behaved well but that's the priviledged classes for you. Gwynne

If Charles suceeds to the throne then it is very important that they be liked as a couple whether she be titled Queen Camilia or Mrs Windsor,or er indoors....they need to be seen to be liked &excepted by the Royal family as this will have a knock on effect to the Economy the Royals generate each year.from worldwide visitors,,,,,, If she/they are not liked then people wont want to support them,,,, Had the Royal procactol been as up-dated and a changed outlook as it is now,,,,then Charles and Camilia would have married many years ago and she would have been his first choice,,,,,,but as it was,,,, *,*,Heir to the throne just couldnt be seen to marry a lass with no title or history and born in Lambeth,**just plain Camilia Shand.------no it would never have washed,, I think he should be known as Edward the 6th as this will always remind the *FIRM* just what they did to that poor man and Mrs Simpson., Double - Double Standards come to mind,

I think she makes him very happy and 'manages' him well. They always have had traditional 'county' pursuits in common, and continue to enjoy these together. Mistakes were made in the past, but the past is always unalterable and has gone - nothing anyone can do to put the clock back. I'm sure they're not alone in both having to live with the knowledge of a failed partnership - I wish them a long and happy marriage. As for Queen consort, as far as I know, that is the official title for the wife of our King. Jay
