Thinking of you Florence. Enjoy sleeping in your own bed tonight.
Take it easy, especially over the next few days.

Did you get to see your dad, or will he be coming up next time you have the op.?

Happy Christmas and New Year.

Well folks its meeee.Yes back to home sweet home
Firstly can I just say a huge heartfelt thanks to all of you who sent me well wishes, kind words, hugs and who asked after me.xxx

Thankyou Sue so very much for being able to update the thread for everyone, was very much appreciated xxx

Well after a very long chat last night with the dr, a plan has been made. Unfortunately the news I got was not what I had hoped for but.…. I am very lucky to have pulled through and so grateful to the surgeon for making the right decision.

In a nutshell, I was prepped for theatre, given some drugs, went into theatre and fell asleep.
They intubated me with the breathing tube to put me on bypass and then a tube through my neck to show a picture of my heart.
As soon as this tube went in, my airways collapsed and I took a massive asthma attack/allergic reaction to something and then was in respiratory distress.

It took several hours pumping me with adrenalin and other drugs to stabilise me. I was still on the breathing tube at 8am the next day(wed) in ICU!

Later that eve I settled and was transferred to the cardiac ward until I was discharged earlier today after being there 11 days.

Unfortuntely to find out what caused the reaction I have to have allergy tests...for the drugs used, latex and other things too. But I have to wait 2 months to make sure my body is clear before testing otherwise this could give an inaccurate result. So have to wait until 4 feb earliest, get tested in Glasgow, results.
If all are clear, then 10 days of steroids and re op mid march. Long and short of it is, I shall not be working til after the summer holidays next Aug as its a 3 month recovery after op!

This means being stuck at home for months.
I need to process all this in next few days, speak to my boss etc as it will have huge implications, mentally financially etc and is out of my control

So that is what happened and now have to just plod on and wish the weeks away.
But im also grateful to my lovely surgeon because if he had continued, than I would not have survived... The risks were too big and he said he would never risk a patients life.

Im home for xmas and me and my daughter will have a lovely xmas day and Im allowed a small glass of wine...lol first one for a year..whoohoo;-))

So on this thread I wish all you lovely people a very happy xmas and a healthy new year.
I wont post any thing else on here until I get new updatednews in the new year.

With hugs to all

Well done your surgeon Florence. As you say, not what you wanted to happen but it did and it is obvious that you are going to make the best of things.
Enjoy Christmas with your daughter who also will be grateful to the surgeon and enjoy that glass of wine.

You say you won't post but don't rule it out, nothing like a few words on here if you are feeling bored or down. Otherwise we look forward to hearing what is to happen when you know. <3 <3 <3

Think I may of misworded something when I said I wouldn't post, I meant just on this thread until there was new updates in the new year.
I shall be reading all the other threads or maybe put up a thread myself that's topical and of course may comment on other threads too.

Sometimes on here its more entertaining than the tv...lol

Ive had a jolly good shower and hairwash today to rid the hospital out of my system. I feel so much fresher and cleaner now just my brain/memory seems a bit hazy, but I know in time ill be ok.
