Oh, I see, so skive is 'skiving off'? Have heard of that, but not Splenda.I wonder if that is the same as Stevia? One of my daughters gave me 5 large pots of this, (she has a pass for a wholesale place, had to buy this Stevia in bulk) it is ultra sweet. She also has a Stevia plant. When I was up in her house recently, she popped a leaf of this in my mouth.Yuk, it is soooo sweet, like eating about 6-7 sweeteners in one go. |

OH just been in and consulted me as to whether I was up for bubble and squeak with the last of the beef roast. He apologised saying it was not a proper dinner. Informed him that it was better in our tummies than the bin. |

A skive is a bit of a laze about, Splenda is a sucrose based sweetener that is very overpriced but Aldi do the same but much, much cheaper. |

Lol Sharron. I have tried using frozen short crust, but it still doesn't work.It is ME that is at fault. What is a "skive" and Aldi's "Spenda"? |

As you know, I am a chucker and dolloper. I put a lump of Crisp and Dry or Trex and a dollop of Stork or some cheaper baking fat if I can get it, in the food processor with a bit of salt and give it a bit of a whizz. When it looks a bit crumby I pour the water in until it looks about right in a lump. |

Thanks for today's smile injection Sharron. I would not call your meals "left-overs"at all, just very inventive way of using up good food.Too much is thrown away as it is.Did you make an apple pie?I can make a decent rhubarb & apple crumble, but have never been able to master an apple pie.My mother used to make the most mouth-watering pies....have not found anything to beat those yet.Trouble is, she would never let me watch her whilst she was cooking, so don't know how to make decent pie dough, mine used to turn out like carboard, so I gave up trying. |

There just seems to be something very right about sitting at the kitchen table whittling away at a carrot. |

Although I could be considered as part of the post baby-boom generation, we were discussing this at home the other day. We picked up the habit from our mothers who were recycling left-overs until they were too old to care for themselves. |

Sharron...you say not everyone wants to live on leftovers, but from what I read of your diet ,it is much more healthy than a lot of people on low incomes live these days from what we hear. |

I've been there Sharron - I once had one egg and a bit of bread for the weekend and I had to choose the moment when to eat them. |

If only a lot of people ate healthily like that Sharron....they would manage their finances much better. |
