What connects the words sitcom, smog, brunch, muppet and cyborg?

Island

Island Report 25 Nov 2013 22:37

Each word is derived from two words.

Priceless appears not to have digested the severity of words with Santa. :-0

Budgie Rustler

Budgie Rustler Report 25 Nov 2013 22:42

quite right sweetie..
ie., combinations of two different words. (Sitcom is derived from situation and comedy; smog from smoke and fog; brunch from breakfast and lunch; muppet from marionette and puppet; cyborg from cybernetic and organism. :-D

Good quiz, BR. 4 right, if you need to know :-( :-(

My answer to No 11 is correct though : Abadun, Aderbad, Aflatun, Aspi, Geshu, Gushta, Leon, Parhod, Peloma, Rustem, Shaaro, Shapur, Shorax and about 20 others.

The "wise men" were a Jewish sect who were based in Iran and concentrated on prophesying what would occur from study of the planets and stars. Sect was called Zorastrianism. Bible just says there were wise men who brought 3 very expensive gifts. Nowhere does it suggest only 3 of them came, and it would be very unlikely that the group would be small. All of them were ancestors of the Queen lead singer, Frederick Mercury (who was a star in his own right :-) ;-))
