am i doing this right

dont know whether i am expecting to much. but when i do searches . i may come up with a couple of possibles, but only seem to be able to get when births where registered. is it possible to get the actual birth dates any way so i can check which one is right. complete beginner at this. |

Hi, you can't see actual birth certs online, so it can be difficult if there are several in the same area and time frame. |

No you can only get the actual birth dates from the certs. |

Its always worth searching the internet for parish records where the event took place. As Rose says, the baptism record might give the date of birth but only the mother's Christian name, not her maiden name (unless it was an illegitimate birth to an unmarried mother). |
