We painted over the anaglypta paper so it blends well with the flecked oatmeal carpet. It does all look very nice, especially since we cleared up all the bits this morning and dusted before putting everything back into the bedroom. Yes, he did a very good job.

Now to start on putting everything back and clearing the thick layer of dust. But really pleased with the carpets, he did a great job and told us if we had out fairly large overfurnished lounge diner done he/they ('cos there should have been two of them) would shift the furniture if we emptied it first. Very pleasant and polite young man.

AnnC, so pleased that you are all toastie warm again. :-)

We live in a small town, so we know most of the local tradies.

OH plays golf with them. We have to fit appointments around their golf games!

He finally finished just after 6, we found out he is not normally on his own, don't know why he was today but he did an excellent job. And he also helped OH to put the bed and mattress back. Bed made up, everything else can wait until tomorrow.

I find that most services are not taken as seriously as they used to be.I have had a whole summer and Autumn of it.
Everyone has mobile phones these days ,so it should be easier to let customers know.
Had issues with Everest from April till Oct...not for windows but remote garage door and drive...a series of mistakes from beginning to end..so much hassle and phone calls and letters which kept me from doing other things.
Had the opposite last week....firm booked to come Tues morning to fit safety rails up my steps to garage...opened curtains last Mon at 8.45 to find their van outside waiting to see some movement....good job I hadn't made plans for the day!

Just a simple call and you know where you are!!

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 15:50

When the young man arrived at 12.30 he did apologise and said at the previous call he'd had to shift all the furniture. Now 3.50 and he can't be far off finishing I hope.

George Report 18 Nov 2013 12:29

Perhaps he should have signed off as Andrew and I would have known it was a man posting,
The post was by AnninGlos who I took to be a lady

George :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 12:23

Andrew posted on here before your post George. He posted at 11.28. And the booking was made by the shop owner (local shop) who also measured for the carpets and who organises the fitters. It was patronising because you said 'ladies'. :-)

George

George Report 18 Nov 2013 12:20

AnninGlos.
Not being patronising at all. Most appointments are made by office staff who have no experience of actually doing whatever job. Anything can cause a delay on getting to the next job.
And who is Andrew?.

George :-)

AnninGlos Report 18 Nov 2013 12:17

No I realise that but if they had just said the date and not morning it wouldn't have been so bad. telling us 'morning' insinuates that they didn't have another job, or only a small job so I am not impressed. They have hall, stairs, landing and bedroom to do when they do get here so it is not a small (or cheap) job as it is the shop we also bought the carpets from, not independent fitters.

Phyll Report 18 Nov 2013 12:10

No Phone for a week, said they call 18th between 8a.m. & 1p.m. At 8.15 this morning he arrived. Tester not working so called up a colleague to assist. One hour later colleague arrived. Found the fault and had to go up the pole. Both left at 11.30 a.m. So it's not always easy for them to keep to a schedule.
