I watched the second episode Ann and now I have worked everyone out - quite enjoyed it - especially remembering the styles.

AnninGlos Report 20 Oct 2013 22:31

May watch it sometime this week then.

vera2010 Report 20 Oct 2013 20:05

Not a nurse Ann but worked as a Secretary in a London Teaching Hospital 1964 and prior to that in a Northern District Hospital. Its pretty true to life. The grand round, smoking, nurses and doctors relationships, and the terrifying sister. Have good memories of the old NHS so think it will be like reliving my past a little.

As a patient do remember Matron's rounds. Not sure if Matron is missed so much as a good Ward Sister.

Were you a nurse in the 60s Vera? Oh dear now I don't know whether to watch it or not :-D

vera2010 Report 20 Oct 2013 06:16

I watched both episodes tonight. I liked it. Think it was quite typical of 60's hospitals, especially the way the doctors gathered around the bed and ignored the patient.. Will probably carry on watching it if only for the lovely Davenport fella but I wish that nurse would take her cape off in the bus and the caff and wear her gaberdine. Matron would not approve.

I watched the programme on Thursday night Ann and can't say I'm excited by it.

Most of the scenes 'appear to' chop and change and so many characters I've lost track of who is who?..... also doctors smoking their pipes at patients' bedside? I don't think so! :-0 at least not when I was in hospital in the sixties.

AnninGlos Report 19 Oct 2013 21:10

Pity nobody seems to have watched this weeks

Did nobody watch it?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Oct 2013 10:10

Sooo was the second episode any better than the first? Again I have recorded it to watch later.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Oct 2013 21:22

I have watched the recording and I am not sure, it was very involved with a lot of characters to take in at once.

From a historical point of view it was interesting to see the difference with the hospital being 60 s. If only they would bring back matron now.

I liked seeing the fashions and the cars etc so will probably watch the next one before I decide. I think the acting was quite good.

ChrisofWessex

ChrisofWessex Report 11 Oct 2013 17:55

I need a second week at least to sort everyone out - was just getting the hang of it tgowards the end.

Ann - isnt it surprising that Emmerdale never gets 'bumped off'?

They are on every weekday and sometimes twice at that.

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 11 Oct 2013 17:24

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 11 Oct 2013 17:20

ooh a dilemma now do I watch it to be bewildered or not. It might marginally be better than the football as there is no Corrie tonight.

BC If I was I didn't notice anything :-D :-D

Me too, I watched it and I'm not sure whether to watch the next one or not. Maybe it improves as you get further into it.
