There is a burial record on FMP for Jeffreyston which gives her year of birth as 1763.

I don't have a sub to check any other detail there may be.

I'm Welsh but not a Welsh speaker - however, I'm pretty sure there is no Welsh translation for Abra - have never ever heard the name as a Welsh forename

She isn't the only Abra(h) on the census, but the name does seem to be confined to Pembroke and Carmarthen areas.

what more do you wish to know then? On the census for Wales there are literally dozens of Abra's but I've never come across a living one

JustJohn Report 9 Oct 2013 22:23

Abra is the feminine form of Abraham.

Sayce is not a Welsh name and most Welsh names would have been patronymic at that time, even in Pembrokeshire. I thought about Sais (English person) but but that would be pronounced "Syce". I am wondering if Abra was from a Jewish family. There were Jews in West Wales from a very early date. Does Sayce sound like a Jewish surname?

I think she would probably have been called Abby in the family, and as Abra is a very rare name, someone may have assumed Abby was short for Abigail
