What make and model is it Paula. I have been thinking about buying one for a couple of years. Since my husband died I don't use the normal electric oven just for myself only if I am entertaining.

I can't find any here in Tenerife and would probably have to buy it in the UK or on line.

Of course you're welcome. Roast pork roast potatoes are the very best in the Halogen See you Sunday.

I have brought a new 12 ltr halogen oven. Testing it out at the weekend.

Elizabeth ~ I would suggest taking a few of your of your cake pans shopping with you, at least a round one and a loaf pan and make sure they fit in the bowl. Look at halogen ovens that have the extra ring, you'll need that for cooking cakes, or they will burn on the top.

I'm guessing you're in the UK. I'm in Oz, so best wait for other Brits to let you know what they have.

I cook just about everything in the halogen oven.

I wouldn't put the big oven on just for scones, but I make six (instead of the usual twelve). By the time they're mixed & ready to cook, the oven is hot enough... not like the big oven which takes twenty minutes to heat up.

Not good for custards! I made a lemon & lime tart.......never again! Watched the custard swirl around, it looked like a tornado in there....... and the tart had a peak in the middle when it was done. lol

I also have a smaller halogen cooker, it rotates & there's an arm that turns the food around. Really good for roast potatoes (when I've got a big piece of meat in the big halogen). It's also good for little things like spring rolls.

Have to agree with Dizzi.


Also easy cleaning afterwards.

We took the halogen oven to a repair shop yesterday. The bulb was corroded and part of the casing was going rusty apparently this is a common problem with this particular make The man said bulbs only last a couple of years, this was true in my case. First one was £89 second one £59. Shop said it would cost £20 plus to repair. This is the second oven, same brand I have had. I have just looked on the internet and not good reviews. I I will definitely buy another one, but am looking at a different brand.


Elizabeth: I would recommend one my only negative point would be the glass bowl is very heavy and when it has water in it is dIfficult for me to lift. I will pm you with the brand to avoid ( and also with the one I am looking at at the moment)

I was thinking of getting one of these ovens,will wait and see what happens now ! :-S

I wish I'd bought one years ago. I rarely use the "big" oven now.

The lamp in my microwave blew, a while back, and I searched online for a replacement......found that the lamp base was specially modified for this particular microwave.......and got one from an un expected source......
