Dates on tins is a relatively recent thing. 'Best before' is more of a guide for stores and stock control. Unless the tin is really rusty, or blown, I would use it!! |

A few years ago a couple on their Golden Wedding Anniversary ate a tinned chicken that they had been given as a wedding present. No ill effects whatsoever. Tins never used to have best before or use by dates and I am sure most of us ate things that these days would be deemed well out of date. |

Yesterday we ate tinned fruit a year out of date. Seem ok so far. And now I have just seen this in our local paper. |
