Could be worse, Uzzi, they could be 17 year old girls! It must be awful when you are responsible for someone elses kids, though!

UzziAndHerDogs Report 10 Sep 2013 11:10

Wow what a merry go round the last few days have been.

yesterday made me realise that I am not missing out by not being a mother, :-S

Lads are sorted and they are now well aware that although OH wears the trousers he does share them. and ...ooo and I have to own up *cringes in corner* whilst reading the riot act I picked up the phone and threatened to get OH home from work to sort them out. :-0 . I did have to laugh mind because OH was due home at 5.30pm and the lads made friends at 4.45pm and disappeared off to the pool out of his way ! :-D.

They are that apologetic that they spent 2hours cleaning the flat up. Mind listening to the noise upstairs I will say that it will take about 2 mins to make it a mess again :-)

I am so very thankful that I can hand them back to their parents on Thursday.

AnninGlos Report 9 Sep 2013 22:11

I would certainly point out that if they want to come back again they should start acting like adults and show you some respect. Tell them that although they have their own front door they are still under 18 and you feel responsible for them. And tell them they are not being fair.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 8 Sep 2013 12:35

Unfortunately 17 year old males seem to think that they are Jack the Lads and that no harm will come to them. Strange that even if they are responsible at home, they seem to leave the brain cell there when they go abroad!

Any chance that you can bolt the door from the inside??

As it looks as if you'll be having the car tonight, how about saying that you'll collect them from xx as midnight, and that if they aren't there you'll go home, bolt the door and they can sleep in the garden? If they want to come back for another visit/cheap holiday, they must abide by your house rules.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 8 Sep 2013 12:03

5 am they rolled in. :-0 I was too tired to read the riot act. That is still to come. Not that it will be too bad really.

I can´t lock them out because they have their own front door,

Silly Sausage Report 8 Sep 2013 09:24

I would of personally said nothing when infact they did return. They would be expecting an ear full and I found the " I am so disappointed in you " look and not a word spoken worked wonders......however this morning I would be marching in to their bedroom flinging open the curtians advising them you want a word NOW...with the hoover at the ready :-D

I would also be advising that you said 12 on 2 nights and on both they have failed to comply this shows their lack of respect to you * add the I am so hurt look* so from now you are grounded or is now 10 pm like it or lump it ;-)

TheBlackKnight

TheBlackKnight Report 8 Sep 2013 09:02

You could point out to them that if they was in a B&B, the door would be locked at a given time at night, as the house holder could not sit up all night waiting for them to come in at silly hours, & then be able to do all the things they need to do the following day. It could also be pointed out that not nice things happen outside at night & you love them because they are family, & thats why you was sitting up untill silly hours at night worrying. Then say to them you better not put me trough that again, & you will be in by 11:00pm now. Good luck Uzzi.

Oh dear Uzzi, hope the boys got in safely so you could get some sleep.

How convenient that the phone was lost, doesn't the other lad have one?
They really shouldn't take the michael especially this early on in the holiday.

Read the riot act, lol

Thank you Sylvia about hubby, after seeing him tonight I know he can't handle them and another 12 hr shift at work.actually I am not sure he can handle anything but his bed and a tissue. So I will make a decision and phone him in sick and make a decision on his nephew,
Tenerife if they were here long enough I would curb them but it is difficult and with what is going on in nephews life at the mo don't want to be over heavy handed Mind they are going to get a major curfew after tonight.

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 8 Sep 2013 01:16

I would make them stop in the next night. And then for every night they aren't in by twelve after that they forfeit another night out.

Hope they are okay and get back soon

Sylvia Report 8 Sep 2013 01:14

It is so worrying when they stay out late. I went through the same with mine when they were at home, although they were older than 17. I still worried and could not sleep until I knew they were safe. They just do not think how much worry they cause.
Hope your Hubby is feeling better.

lol Maggie I am not sure I could eat a breakfast they cooked, but they had ground rules and now have a few problems if they ever want to come back out (which they both do).
I don´t want to be a killjoy on their 1st hol abroad minus parents BUT they are in so much trouble.

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 8 Sep 2013 00:57

Methinks a reading of the riot act is called for, and a few 'ground rules' laid down.
How about asking them to cook you a full English breakfast tomorrow - at about 9am?
