Hi Errol

been away, plus had visitors.

Spent a week with OH's sister in northern BC, so he could celebrate a rather significant birthday.

Then we took the train to Jasper, that was 1½ days.

Overnight in Jasper.

Then The Canadian overnight from Jasper to where we live.

It was great fun ............... and we always love riding the trains.

OH would love it even more if they were still steam engines :-D

One of OH's cousins has traced the family history back to the 1300s in Wales ........

................. I'm currently trying to prove his research is accurate

If true, there are some quite famous Welsh names in the tree

His father's side goes back to at least 1620 in Westmorland and Yorkshire.


Mine only go back to ca 1875 in Lancashire, when they moved from Buckinghamshire. I can trace them back to 1720 in Bucks.

I have a Lancashire side to my family although it is one part fo the UK I don't know particularly well

I must admit, I do like arriving home with clean hands and face after a train trip!!


The Canadian uses the steel carriages that were built for the cross-Canada run back in the 1950s ................. renovated inside of course :-D


and the food in the Dining Car is to die for.

Honestly!!

It is at least 4 star quality

It was a bit of a shock to wake up one morning at sis-i-l to see new snow on the mountain tops surrounding the valley ............... the first of the season.

The temperature had got down to 1C overnight in the town.

I was born and raised near Manchester, and went to Liverpool Uni .........

....... which is how I managed to meet a half Welsh half Yorkshire man from Cheshire

and eventually (8 years later) marry him and emigrate to Canada via the US
