I was just interested as to where about´s roughly we all are.
For the part-timers what sort of months do you live out here ?
Since I have moved from La Manga I am still in the Murcia region of Costa Calida in Los Alcazares,

George

George Report 28 Aug 2013 18:21

Will be out there is October, right near Los Alcazares in Los Narjeos ( think that's how you spell it) :-D :-D.
We often go to a café by a big arch at the motorway junction, where the N332 meets the AP7,

George :-)

RolloTheRed Report 28 Aug 2013 19:12

We spend quite a bit of time at Islas Menores but not usually August.
I would be there more often but for the snail speed internet.

I can remember la Manga before most of the hotels and clubs were built, before the lagoon filled up with jellyfish and jet skis.

The roads are better but the driving is not.

The ancient boneshaker light railway from Los Nietos to Cartagena has been modernised with cute new yellow trains. Super.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 28 Aug 2013 19:36

George I live walking distance (well 10mins walk) to the Arches (as yes they are called that) I actually live in Los Narejos JUST. Give me a shout when you arrive please.

Rollo you are so right, I take it you still come this way at times ? By the way the way the driving will never be better in a million years. :-S But the bone shaker light railway from Los Nietos to Cartagena still runs ..been here 9yrs never been on it. :-(

Anyone out there live in Menorca like I do.
Would love to make contact.
Menorca is a beautiful island, but about 40 years behind the rest of Spain, so can be very frustrating at times as everything has to be dealt with either in Palma or Barcelona, so we tend to feel a bit isolated.

BrendafromWales

BrendafromWales Report 29 Aug 2013 08:26

It has been a worry for me,but when I was a carer for my husband and almost never able to go out,I had to forget about it.

We let it to a friends son very cheaply, but he then had a bad accident and couldn't work,so we let him have it rent free.

This didn't bother me as I thought that at least it was kept aired and lived in.
About a month ago,he called to say he hadn't lived in it for over a year.I was amazed that his parents hadn't told me....so now my son who lives in Guernsey and they are expecting a baby any minute,is helping me .

We will have to go out there as I do know that Spanish law is different from ours as this is the 2nd house we have had in Spain.

I really don't want to go as it will be hard without OH and I don't know what we will find.

We all have our problems and believe me I have had other things to sort over here.
Will get there eventually and they are all material not life threatening, but need sorting soon.

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 29 Aug 2013 10:55

As my board name says I live in Tenerife in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island. Like Wisechild in Menorca we too are a bit behind the times but gradually catching up. We are governed by Spain so anything of importance has to go through Madrid which seems to take forever. I love living here but would not like to live in the hotter, drier south of the island. If anyone is ever in or near Puerto I would love to meet up.

AnninGlos and her OH arrived yesterday for four weeks, we had a lovely meal together and it was good to catch up.

UzziAndHerDogs Report 29 Aug 2013 11:13

Wendy say Hi to Ann from me. I loved Puerto de la Cruz when I visited the Island, actually I loved the whole Island and wanted to move there. There used to be a bar shaped like a boat, it was up for sale when I came over and I wanted to buy it.

Mary yes we had the rain also but not as bad as it sounds like you did. Luckily we have only had it at night so the mornings have been fresh. I must get it into my head that you live in Oliva and not Denia.

Wisechild never been to Menorca but have been told it´s beautiful, I will own up it´s too small for me but would suit OH. Mind a rock in ocean would suit OH.

wisechild

wisechild Report 29 Aug 2013 12:43

Uzzie, you´re quite right. It´s very small.
When I first moved here I said I thought I would probably have exhausted all it´s possibilities within about 5 years.
I´ve been here for 8 years now & although I love the place to bits & know it like the back of my hand, the winters are very dreary. So many friends have moved away that there are hardly any left. Have been trying to persuade OH to move to the mainland (where he comes from) where there would be a bit more life, but he wants to stay here. Don´t know why. He hasn´t had a job for 5 years & is very depressed about it.
Having said all that, I do love Menorca. It sort of gets under your skin.
If your OH wants a rock in the middle of the ocean, I can recommend Menorca. ;-)

UzziAndHerDogs Report 10 Sep 2013 11:15

LOL Wisechild OH says that Menorca would be too large for him as it has people living there. !!

be very careful putting that your propertys for sale Renes
theres some very sad preditors out there

who may try to take an intrest
i would hate you be taken advantage of :-(

wisechild

wisechild Report 10 Sep 2013 13:24

That´s only a rumour put about by the Menorquines to make themselves feel important.
In fairness we do have 3 supermarkets, but there´s no "Cort Ingles" so there can´t be anyone of importance here. Only claim to fame is that the King of Spain used to call to Fornells for lobster stew occasionally. Don´t think his health is up to it now!!
