how about "not on my watch", and "absolutely" instead of "yes" and "at this moment in time" rather than "now" Grrrrr!!

Maggie :-D :-D Now that realy made me chuckle. I shall never look at a silo again without thinking of you working at Hants CC. Presumably you are the finest wheat at the top squashing the likes of me :-D :-D

Don't forget 'Silo' working - nothing to do with farm work, but never really understood it.
I'm sure it doesn't mean the wheat (management) at the top and the chaff (real workers) squashed or trodden on by those at the top, which is how I see Hampshire County Council works. :-P

Management speak is truly awful.

But one which I use when trying to help others when researching is

'think outside the box'

this is the one phrase/terminology which is so appropriate to our hobby, it encourages and advised people that you sometimes have to look at your research in a new light, ie alternate spellings, mistranscriptions etc.

Lady Scozz mentioned mine-"at the end of the day"..Also "It's doable"
:-| :-| :-|, the bottom line, pushing the boundaries, thinking outside the square /box, and euphemisms for sackings in companies---downsizing,restructuring,etc..there are probably a few more which I haven't thought of..

Absolutely hate it when people are asked if they have "issues around" a topic.
Why not just ask if anyone objects?

Surely all this Jargon is merely "Blue Sky Thinking". :-D

'Ownership'. That's another one I loathe.

We are cleansing the organisation, flattening the management structure, empowering people.

Still means "bye bye, thanks for all you have done, enjoy your package"

In Wales, fair play and isn't it are used very regularly.

Perhaps they don't play fair in other countries. Perhaps no one questions anything said. I also hate "in the present moment of time" (which was "now" when I was small)

One of our heads of department is excessively fond of using all the latest management speak and corporate jargon. We have been known to play buzzword bingo to stop ourselves nodding off.

You make a list of 12 irritating words/phrases and cross them off as they're used, shout "Bingo" when you've crossed off 6. After head of had spouted nonsense and said "we all have to see the bigger picture" colleague sat next to me shouted "Bingo".

Head of took this as a big compliment and thanked colleague for his affirmation. Knob.
