We have a collection once a fortnight for general rubbish, plus white bag for tins and plastic, green box with divider for cardboard one side and glass other.green bag for paper/ newspaper, purple bag for clothing and a small grey lidded bucket for food

alternate weeks is Garden rubbish in bought green bags.they will take up to 6 each time....they will take all the rest except general rubbish.

It can all be very confusing .we do the job for them.
I only put my general bin out about once every 6 weeks as never much in it after all the other bits that we've washed, torn up,or already sorted for them. :-(

I did see that about everyone eventually having 7 but can't see why our area would need as many, we have a brown wheelie bin for garden rubbish, a green wheelie bin for non recyclables, a small green bin for food waste and a blue wheelie bin for recyclables which include, card/cardboard, paper/newspaper.foil, plastic bottles, tins, glass bottles and jars, yoghurt pots, butter etc containers, plastic or other meat and veg trays and tetrapacks. Blue bin goes out one week, green and brown bins the alternate weeks and the food waste every week. I have absolutely no complaints about our rubbish collections they work well.

We have nine separate collections. Admittedly two of them (foil and textiles) have to be bagged separately but are collected with the tins and glass in a box.

The bag of plastics seems to be the largest volume of waste we have. In fact although we have a weekly black bin collection I only put it out every three weeks or so, and even then it is only about a quarter full.

Edit
For the record the collections are:
General rubbish - black bin - weekly
Food waste - small green lidded bin - weekly
Garden waste - brown bin - fortnightly
Paper - sack - fortnightly
cardboard - sack - fortnightly
Plastic - large plastic sack - fortnightly
Glass, tins - green box - fortnightly plus textiles and foil in separate bags

Still have to dispose of batteries and electronic and household appliances
